My Projects
I have always loved doing projects and making things. I started out with messing up a few clocks and a few games. But things changed with time. I joined the electronics activity in my school, thanks to my parents and thanks to those old, now dead radios ;-) and since then I made a number of gadgets, includeing my stereo system and inverter, which are still in use.
After coming to IIT Guwahati, i did a couple of projects. Some of them are worth mentioning,
Eye Testing Software :
This project was done during the summers of 2003 at HP-IITM Labs, IIT Chennai. It involved the development of an Eye Testing Software, that could be used as a preliminary eye examination in a rural kiosk, without the help of a doctor, or a trained professional. The Software could be of great value to the many rural people in India, who do not have access to a doctor, leave alone an eye specialist, in their neighborhood and have to travel to a nearby city for a medical check up. Due to the proprietary nature of the work, I will not be able to share the source code and the project report for the project.
Identification using Iris Recognition :
This project was also done during the summers of 2003 when I was in HP-Labs IIT Chennai. It involved the study of Iris Recognition technology for use in cheap identification systems, which use a web camera for image acquisition and a home PC for processing. Such a system could be used in the rural kiosks, for replacing text passwords for the rural (mostly illiterate population). For further details and matlab code and images of the iris, that we took using a Logitech web camera, please follow this link.
IITG Medical Database Management System :
Made on Visual Basic, the project was designed for the IITG hospital and is being used there for keeping a record of every single person of the IITG family and their medical history. The software uses an "Access" database for stroing the records and DAO and Microsoft JET technology for retrieval of the data. The software can be downloaded for evaluation. download. eDictionary using a TRIE search engine :
Made on Java and Java Swing for GUI, the project uses a TRIE based search engine, in the backend to retrieve the words in O(1) time. The search engine uses a compressed TRIE data strucure and compresses the TRIE of characters as suggested by AOE in his IEEE paper published in 1996. It also uses a MySQL database in the backend and I got the word and meanings from the Project Gutenberg . download
Hardware Projects :
These are mostly hardware projects for the circuits and communication courses that I have taken or am taking. To go through a list of the projects, please follow this link.
The list will grow with my other projects. Please keep on checking the page and give me your invaluable comments on my projects.......
