Lila McCann - Frequently Asked Questions
And some rarely asked questions as well
Lila McCann
Who is she?
Who is Lila McCann?
Lila is a country singer from the state of Washington, currently residing in Nashville. Plenty of information about her is available on this site, or on the sites listed in the links page. If you've found this page, you probably have at least a vague notion of who she is.
Who is Lil Mac? Leela McCain?
Lil Mac is Lila's ghettofied alter ego, created when a review of one of her albums mangled her name in a way reminiscent of some sort of punk rapper. Similarly, Leela McCain comes from some rather common misspellings and mispronunciations of her name. They occasionally crop up as jokes on some of her message boards.
Does Lila have a fan club?
Yes. Details are available on her official site. However, some people seem to have had trouble with their memberships, and the club likely is not very active at the moment.
Does she have an email address?
Probably. I don't know what it is, and if I did, I wouldn't make it public. I've heard that she reads some of the emails sent to the "Email Us" link on her official site. There is also an "Ask Lila" section which is updated infrequently.
Is she on Myspace?
According to her official site, her Myspace Music profile name is lilamccann1. No, she does not actually maintain the page, but you can hear music and see pictures.
What about her music?
To which record label is Lila signed?
Lila is currently signed to Broken Bow Records.
Does she write her own songs?
She has co-writer credits on a few songs from her "LILA" and "Something in the Air" albums. We are told that she has been writing, and presumably some of her work will be on her next album.
When will her next album be released?
I wish I knew. It's been in the works for a couple years now, with its release bumped back a few times. Hopefully soon.
Off-the-wall
How do I get a date with Lila?
Now that she's married, the likelihood of such a thing must be close to zero.
She got married?
Lila married long-time boyfriend Mike Wolofsky in November of 2005.
What's this I hear about her having six toes?
This is a rather persistent rumor that's been going around for ages. It's reached the point of being a running gag on message boards and in chats.
Will Lila marry me?
No.
Message Boards
What boards?
What message boards are out there?
Probably dozens. Many, many Lila sites maintain message boards. The LilaMcCann.com board probably gets the most traffic, but it goes down on a frequent basis.
What message boards have existed?
Some great ones have come and gone over time. A few of the major ones are:
- LilaMcCann.com (LM.com) - The official boards. These boards have gone through several incarnations.
- LilaMcCann.net (LM.net) - Completely Lila message board. The Completely Lila site is gone, but the board still exists.
- LilaOnline.com (BBI) - The Blackbird Inn message board. This one enjoyed quite a bit of traffic, back in the day.
Does Lila read or post to any of these boards?
Occasionally, a post will show up on LM.com. As for whether she reads any other boards, I don't know, but I'd doubt it.
Board Etiquette
May I join?
Of course. We're always happy to meet another Lila fan. Look for the "Register" link somewhere on the forum page, set up your profile, and then post a "hello" to everyone.
What should I post?
In general, whatever you feel like posting. Just make sure you post it in the appropriate section. Most message boards have, at a minimum, a Lila talk section and a general chat section.
What shouldn't I post?
For the most part, moderators for various forums tend to be fairly easygoing, but they all have limits. Don't attack other members or post hate messages. Don't use inappropriate language, or post adult topics in places where youngsters could see. Doing so is an easy way to get banned.
Troubleshooting and Miscellany
Why isn't the image I posted showing up?
Double-check to make sure you entered the URL correctly. If you did, chances are it is being hosted by a site (such as GeoCities) that doesn't allow image hosting.
The message board is gone.
That wasn't a question. But to answer your--erm--confusion, the LM.com boards occasionally are taken down for oddly long periods of time for upgrades or board resets. Expect it to be back in a few weeks. Also expect to have to reregister.
Why did my post disappear?
A moderator may have moved it to a different section. Or he may have found the subject matter inappropriate and deleted it.
Doesn't Lila have the cutest %bodypart?
Yes. Seriously, though, this has been a topic of conversation in the past. To my knowledge, there have been posts about:
- Hair
- Ears
- Eyes
- Lips
- Elbow
- Feet (see also: 'six toes?')
What's a psychoposter?
Someone who posts with amazing frequency on the boards. Similarly, a kiloposter is someone who has 1000 or more posts. The term "Triple Threat" was at one point being used to describe posters who break the 3 kilopost barrier. These are rare, as LM.com is currently the most active message board, and occasionally the board administrators see fit to reset things.
What are these really long discussion threads?
A few threads have been wildly popular and/or around for a very long time.
- TLOTPITW (The Last One to Post is the Winner) - started by Jinnie, a former regular at LM.com. This is a deviously pointless game in which the last person to post in the thread wins.
- The Longest Thread (1) - A catchall for assorted topics, used to post items that don't warrant creating a separate thread.
- The Longest Thread (2) - An alias for TLOTPITW, with the same rules. This came about because of some confusion between TLOTPITW and The Longest Thread (1).
- Thread #n - The nth iteration of "The Longest Thread" (1).
- The Random Thread - An alias for "The Longest Thread" (1), and a more appropriate name. Post random comments in this thread.
- The Picture Thread - Post pictures of... whatever.
- Monday Survey - A traditional Monday questionnaire. Fill it out to pass the time.
- Count to n - Another pointless game. Count from 1 to whatever the limit is.
