All About Me!
My name is Charles Clayton MOORE. I was born 15 May 1950, and was raised, for the first 13 years of my life, in East Fultonham, Ohio, which is in Newton Township of Muskingum County. In 1963 my parents got the wild idea to move to Florida, which I never cared for, but that's a whole 'nother story.
I graduated in 1968 from Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, FL, Charlotte County. Shortly after that I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and made three 6-month tours to Viet Nam. Two tours were aboard the destroyer USS Everett F. Larson, the third was aboard the USS Theodore E. Chandler. In 1974 I married Doreen Belle SIMONS, and we've since had three children. We are proud Grandparents of four...right now!
I love playing the guitar (which I've done since I was 13 when the Beatles came on the scene!) and I have written several contemporary Gospel songs. I also dabble a little in coin collecting (working on my Indian head & Lincoln cents) and stamp collecting (Air Mails and Back-of-the-Book items). Naturally, I love my family history research! Doreen's hobby is scrapbooking which she has been working at with reckless abandon since 1998. One day I realized our hobbies are actually connected. Mine starts with the present and works back, Doreen's starts with the present and goes forward! She has even got me to try scrapbooking, and I am putting together a Heritage Album of my family's history. My ancestors eventually settled in and around PERRY County (Roseville, Somerset, New Lexington, Reading Township) and MUSKINGUM County (Fultonham, East Fultonham, White Cottage, Newton Township). They came from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Immigrant ancestors came from Germany, Bavaria, Wales, England, and Ireland.
