| Film, Hyper-Reality and the "Amusement Factor" |
Which came first--the reality or the movie? Does entertainment reflect reality, or is it the other way around? There are many ways in which our entertainment gives us a certain view, colors the way we see our world. In this respect, we can say that our world can change as a result of entertainment. The first three links at left present some theories regarding entertainment. The fourth link examines some similarities between events in movies and events that have actually occurred. In "Amusing Ourselves to Death", we look at how, in our entertainment-driven society, we always seem to turn to some type of amusement to help us through the difficult times.
