Sharp-Eye-Nerevarine

Chapter Two: Eye of Freedom

Idruug-Sharp-Eye had been asleep for most of the voyage. Dreams had come to him during the night. A woman's voice had told him that he was special in some way. He had the same dream almost every night since he could remember. But there was another dream, a nightmare where someone was trying to control him. He would be given his every desire if only he would bow to this higher entity. Idruug had told himself that these dreams meant nothing. The other prisoner that had also been released with him thought that he should be wary of his dreams. The prisoner, Jiub, had said a dream had come to him the night before he was arrested, telling him to leave Solstheim and never return. Thinking that dreams were not real, he had ignored it, only for his family to see him arrested. He and Idruug had been having this conversation all day.

"Believe in your dreams Idruug," he said, "you never know what they might tell you." The Dunmer looked at him, trying to see if his word would have any impact on him. Idruug seemed to be staring at the crate next to him.

"Jiub my friend, dreams may be important," Idruug looked at him, "but they only torment me. Besides. I have..."

His word were cut off by the sound of heavy boots approaching them. The guard stopped in front of them, looking as though he wanted to murder them both.

"We will be arriving at Morrowind shortly," he growled, "be ready before I return or else I will break in my new whip today." He turned and left.

Jiub turned to Idruug. "Did you hear that? Morrowind. Most likely you will be dropped off in Vvardenfell. It's the mainland of Morrowind, with the smaller Solstheim region off to the north-west."

Idruug looked into Jiub's eyes. "Farwell my friend. We may never meet again, so I wish you well."

"No worries," he said, "I will see you again, I'm sure of it. Quiet, here comes the guard."

Jiub was right. The guard was coming down the stairs to them. When he arrived, he spoke to Idruug.

"You are to come with me. Now." The guard began to walk off.

Idruug looked at Jiub who simply nodded. So he turned and followed the guard. Up some steps and through the ships interior was he led. Just as he arrived at some stairs leading to a trapdoor, the guard stopped.

"You are to continue on and talk with the guard outside," he said.

Idruug climbed the stairs and lifted the hatch to the brightness of the sun. Once out, another guard instructed him across the plank to another guard approaching the ship. Idruug crossed the small plank to speak with him.

"Welcome to Seyda Neen. For Imperial purposes, I must ask where you are from."

This guard was nicer that the brute onboard the ship so it was easier to talk with him. "I am Idruug-Sharp-Eye. I hail from Jussiau of the Black Marsh, Argonia"

The guard looked at him with new admiration. "You speak very well for an Argonian. Well, follow me to get recorded." And with that he led Idruug into the last building as a prisoner, and the first as a free soul.
