| "In todays fast-moving environment, community growth patterns are shifting, citizens
expectations are changing and residents transportation needs are diverse. TDOTs highway projects, however, still require years to complete. The Department realizes that to keep pace with the 21st century society, TDOT needs to change and update some of its planning and business practices. The Case Study described and documented herein is intended as an initial step for TDOT in this change process. Through the review of the 15 major highway projects, including the James White Parkway Extension project, the Case Study will provide critical input for TDOT to begin to identify areas for improvement and ways to better serve Tennessees citizens." ~TDOT~ |

| "This project would sacrifice South Knoxville Neighborhoods for
the convenience of those who have chosen to live outside the city. Residents of the South City Sector value the relatively rural quality of South Knoxville. We dont want our older neighbor- hoods bisected, and we dont need the commercialism from which those few who are actively supporting this project hope to gain." ~South Knoxvillians~ |

| What's going on? The Tennessee Department of Transportation is trying to extend the already existing South Knoxville Boulevard through South Knoxville, bypassing Chapman Highway. The speedy way to get to Gatlinburg... just go through my back yard! |
