This young soldier found herself the head of her family's household, after their family home in LA was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
She cared for her mother, who had just had a stroke, her sister and her 2 nieces ages 5 years and 7 months - in her one bedroom apartment!
By October, the family made the decision to return to their home in Louisiana, which had been damaged, but not destroyed.
All donations and offers of assistance for this family were gratefully received and put to good use. Many Red Hatters from several chapters were very generous in their outpouring of care and concern - and prayers!
