This is a novel about Gilly, an eleven year old girl who has spent her life being sent from one foster home to another. Gilly dreams about the day her 'beautiful' mother will come and save her from the mundane existence as a 'foster child'. As the novel progresses, Gilly realises that something you have hoped for all your life doesn't always live up to expectations.
