I visited New York City for the first time in my life the day after Chistmas 2001. I went to ground zero. What I saw touched me. All of the people there wanted to empathize with the people of New York. The viewing platform had not yet been erected so the closest you could get was a little less than a block away. There are no words to descibe this place. It looks, feels and smells like a graveyard. There is this giant void where the towers used to be. The wall that has gone up as a tribute is amazing. Just reading the names and seeing the faces of the people who lost their life is a sobering expierience.
I spent about 2 hours there just taking it in. I paid my respects and then I enjoyed all that New York had to offer. My thoughts and prayers are with the victums' family.
Thank you New York for a wonderful Chistmas!! |
