Benjamin C. Moore was the last child of Abraham and Mary Moore. He was born in 1827 and died about 1890. He served as a private in Captain Steele's army regiment during the Civil War. Sometime between the 1860 census and the 1870 census, Mary Agnes and all of the children she had with Benjamin had disappeared and Benjamin was listed in the 1870 census as having been remarried to a woman named Hannah Sophronia Gray. Known as Sophronia by the family she was born in 1848 and was a daughter of Alexander Gray and Perline Huckiby. Alexander was an immigrant from Ireland. Benjamin had inherited the home tract of the family plantation from his father Abraham. As recorded in the Kingstree courthouse on May 12, 1877 Benjamin and Sophronia sold the home tract to Benjamin's nephew W. Watson Moore for $75. After the death of Benjamin, Sophronia married a man named Joseph B. Jeffords. She died in Clarendon County, South Carolina on August 2, 1924. Joseph and Sophronia are listed in the 1900 census for South Carolina as living in Anderson Township in Williamsburg County.
