TAGLINE: The show has been canceled... but the adventure is just beginning
Galaxy Quest is a zany sci-fi adventure that will keep you laughing with every
in-joke and goofy character. The film stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman,
Tony Shalhoub, and Daryl Mitchell as former stars of an 80s sci-fi television show called
Galaxy Quest. Now that the show has been off the air for several years, the cast is
reduced to making public appearances as the characters that made them famous and made their lives
a joke. At one convention where they are reunited with a former one-episode character
(Sam Rockwell) that was not important enough to survive the episode, they meet with a group of
real aliens, headed by Just Shoot Mes Enrico Colantoni. The aliens mistake the television
show for historical documents and beam up the television stars to handle negotiations with an old
rival of their people. Needless to say, comic hilarity ensues. What else would you expect putting
Tim Allen in outer space? It sounds pretty simple a plot and that is a good thing. The humor from
this film comes from each of the jokes that references the Star Trek, such as a particular
joke where Sigourney Weaver confronts Tim Allens character for having a liason with every
species of alien, which is a direct reference to Capt. Kirk. The cast was stupendous, which is no
surprise to me. Even if you are, like I, not a Star Trek fan you will find much to enjoy
in this film. A witty script, hilarious performances, and impressive special effects! B+!
