| Syphon Filter is a shooting game. Thats about all you need to know to play this game. Apart from random guys wearing body armor and being impervious to bullets to the chest area, this game is mostly repetitive, with flashes of brilliance. If 989 would have made every level as fun as the DC park level, where you hunt down terrorists in the rain and fog with a heat scope sniper rifle, this game would really be something, but as it is, it is merely above average. They try to create an intricate story, one that just annoys you so much you wish you could skip the movies. Add in some psycotic arab terrorists with nukes, a bunch of guns, and a guy that tries to imitate solid snake (and fails miserably, I might add) and you have a fun game.....for about 10 hours, the time it took me to beat it. I would say almost no replay value, except on those rare fun levels, like the aforementioned DC park level, which are fun to play over and over. If Snake is a 4 on the cool scale in Metal Gear Solid, then Gabriel would have to be about a -6. This game tries way too hard to be Metal Gear Solid, with the sidekick on the radio even resembling Mae Ling from MGS. |
