| I'm going to be frank, and I'm going to be honest. The game had some of the hugest anticipation ever (for me anyways). A letdown? Yes. But a horrible game? Not really. Let me start off by saying that Dante was COOL. No need to go into details, you all know what I'm talking about. He was the greatest demon-slayer ever. The king of the beasts. The moster taking over the video game spotlight. However, in DMC2, his cool level goes down from an 11 to a 4 on the scale of 10. Enough said. The HUGE downside to the game, however, isn't in Dante at all. The game is so damn short and confusing that it'll leave you sitting in your seat saying, "So, who is this guy again? Why in the f*ck am I killing him again? Whoa! Slow down there! What in the hell is going on!?!" Please also note that the "bad-guy" isn't exactly cool either. He is some pansy who has an extreamly high pitced voice and apparently can control the demons of hell and is going to become immortal...or something like that. You never can be sure with a game without a story. The new moves added are most definetly cool. However, they are pretty much useless (sorry, guys). It's cool to run along a wall or shoot upside down, but the moves just plain don't really help you out at all. Also, because they rate you so unfairly on your special skills (or whatever), your going to have a really difficult time getting better than a "C" or even a "D" on some missions. Being able to ace the game with "S"'s like in the first game just isn't going to happen, no matter how good you are. Overall, however, the game is on the o.k. side. It IS NOT A HORRIBLE GAME, it is just a side-step of the first game. They need to get their feet moving in a forward direction. The graphics are great, the gameplay is....fun....the camera angles can get annoying, but it is senseless to be angry at a few little slip-ups which happen to occur in every single game ever made. Now, your thinking...RENT IT!?!?!?! This guy is out of his mind. Well, you could say that I am, I suppose, but you have to listen on this subject. The VERY low replay value of the game makes it not worth playing much after you beat it, and being that it only takes 8-12 hours to beat (depending on the player), it's not really worth owning. So, rent it, beat it, return it. That's all I have to say. Just for "shits-and-giggles" I have my completion times below. |
