Marc Giroux dazzled the rest of the field during the elimination rounds being the only participant to go without a loss. However, in the quarter finals, he met up with Brian who had pulled off 5 wins in the tournament thus far and handed Marc his first loss of the day.
The other quarter final match-up saw Ed Mandula against Mike Egan. This was a re-match of the championship game of the last big tournament. Just weeks prior, Ed beat Mike to be crowned summer invitational champion and was hoping he could do the same at Quoit-Palooza.. Ed faultered however in the playoffs and Mike took advantage capturing the win and the chance to play Marc in the Semi finals.
The semi final match was a close fought battle but the rookie new-comer Marc managed to claim the win and move on to the finals where he would again face Brian Brunaccioni. Unfortunately for Marc, Brian put on a clinic of quoit playing. The first game was won by Brian after he tripled the double-ringer that Marc had posted the previous shot. The second game wasnt much better for Marc as Brian kept up his expert play and eventually handed Marc his third loss of the day to Brian.
Congratulations go out to Brian, Champion of Quoit-Palooza. He could have easily given up starring at a 10 point double issued by Marc in the first game. Instead, he threw the triple for 15 points and the win and eventually the Championship.
Marc Giroux took home the prize for runner-up and congratulations have to be given for a player making it all the way to the finals in his first ever quoit games.
