| Play: The Early Years: Play is: Rosie Munter, Anna Sundstrand, Anais Lameche, and Janet Leon. Through their years, Play has recorded three hit albums. The first, self-titled "Play," the second, "Replay," and the latest, "Don't Stop the Music." The group came together in the year of 2001. Their manager, Laila Bagge, brought them together. Laila saw Anna and Anais in musicals and they attended her dance school in Sweden, called Sway. When she heard their voices, she asked them later if they wanted to be in a group. They both responded with a yes. There were two girls for the group. Next, Laila held auditions in Stockholm, Sweden, their hometown, for two more girls who wanted to be in the group. Out of thousands of auditions from all over Sweden, she picked Rosie, and Play's former member, Faye Hamlin. "And the funny thing was that she didn't know that me and Faye were best friends." Rosie says. Faye and Rosie attended school together and were classmates, so when Laila picked the two of them, they were overjoyed. In June of 2002, Play's debut self-titled album, "Play" was released. Their single, "Us Against the World" was a hit all over the world, especially in Europe and in the U.S. Radio Disney had hundreds of fans request "Us Against the World" every day. On June 10th, 2003, their follow-up 2nd album, "Replay" hit music store shelves. Their two smash hits on "Replay" were "Whole Again," their remake of Atomic Kitten's hit, and "I Must Not Chase the Boys," which was nominated on MTV's "TRL." In middle December of 2003, Faye decided to leave Play so she could pursue her goals of a higher education and set off for college back in Stockholm. (She will always be remembered for the wonderful talent she brought to Play.) The rest of the girls were very sad and worried that the band was going to break up. That's when Laila introduced the new girl she picked for the group, Janet Leon. Play Now: Janet had always listened to Play and was a big fan of their music. A few years before, Janet submitted a demo tape to Laila, and when Faye made her decision to leave, Laila called her and told her that she had been chosen to be the new member of Play. Janet was overjoyed and accepted right away. Play was reunited. All the girls were happy that Play would go on. On March 9th, 2004, their third album, "Don't Stop the Music," made it's way into record stores. Their hits for their big number three was "everGirl" and "Every Little Step," featuring Aaron Carter. "Every Little Step" was also a smash hit on Radio Disney, and is the remake of the Bobby Brown classic. Play will be coming out with a new album in 2005, their fourth album. No news on that yet, but it will, without a doubt, be wonderful. Copyright August 5th, 2004, Susie's Play Site. All rights reserved. |
