Jim Lesch - June 2003

For the people who don't know you, introduce yourselves.

Faye: I'm Faye, 16
Anna: I'm Anna, and I'm 15
Anas: I'm Anas, I'm 16.
Rosie: And I'm Rosie, 16.
Anas: And we're...
All: Play

You're back to promote your second CD, but your first CD went gold.

Faye: Yea!
Anna: We're really proud of that.
Anais: In January it went gold, and we're so happy. It really made us proud. It shows that all our work payed off. Now we're on our second album, which is called Replay. It came out in stores two days ago.
Faye: We're really excited.
Anais: And the first single off that is I Must Not Chase The Boys.
So, how is Replay different from Play?
Faye: When we were doing the first album we were really young. We recorded the first song when we were 11 and 12. It was mostly pop, and all the songs were pop. Replay is mix between rock, pop and R&B. We've grown, our voices have grown and we wanted to develop.
Anais: And I think the first album was more getting into it. We really wanted to know how to do everything. Now we are more involved in our songs, and what we sing.
With your maturing image, are you trying to get away from the Radio Disney crowd?
All: No.
Anais: No, we're not trying to break away from the Radio Disney crowd. We really wanna thank them, because without them we wouldn't be here today at all. Our new image isn't a new image, it's just who we've become.
Anna: And as we've grown, our fans have grown too.
Speaking of that, you said you're music styles are changing. Who do you guys look up to? American Artists or what kinds of artists?
Faye: Well, I think it's different, American artists and Swedish artists.
Anais: We listen to a lot of different music.
Faye: Yeah, we're inspired by rock, hip hop, pop soul
Anais: It doesn't have to be the same kind of music we do. Like, I like Three Doors Down and Audio Slave, even though it's nothing like our music. (To Rosie) And I know you like hip hop. So we're inspired by all kinds of music and we think its important to give all music styles into chance.
You recently shot the video for I must not chase the boys. What was the concept behind that?
Anna: We're in this haunted house.
Anais: We have all these boys and you don't know if its reality or not, if these guys are real. It's just a thing that we must not chase the boys, but we want to so bad. It's kind of a message behind that song. You're becoming a teenager, you want to find yourself, but your parents.... You know, you wanna break through, but we must not chase the boys.
How was shooting the video?
Anna: We had a lot of fun, we did it over two days. But the house was actually haunted. It was really scary.
Anais: There was this lady inside, she was watching when we were shooting, she was like, "Don't go up to the fourth and six, cause its haunted." And so they're like "Anais, today you'll be shooting on the fourth and sixth floor." And I was like (makes a scared face)
Anna: And there was this big long hallway and all the way back was this big mural. It was really scary.
And that video recently made TRL. Were you excited about that?
Faye: Yes
Anna: We're really proud.
Anais: Thanks to all the fans for supporting us and voting for the video. It's great!
And what do you plan to put out after that?

Anais: We actually haven't decided yet
Rosie: It's a surprise. (Laughs)
Anais: We don't know
Anna: Ya never know
Anais: We just recently got the new track, Girls Mind, and it just finished before the album came out. So we're not sure what's gonna be the next single.
And if you could collaborate with someone, who would you do it with?
Faye: That's hard.
Rosie: There's a lot of people
Anais: I know you wanna do it with Jay-Z (To Faye)
Faye: Yea, Jay-Z would be cool.
Anais: If he could rap in one of our songs, or whatever. Be like, "Yo, yo! Play." or whatever?
Rosie: Yo, yo. Play (mocking Anais) (laughs)
Faye: No, I was thinking it would be cool if we did to do a duet with someone really different, like Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Anais: or Kid Rock. Just because it'd so different but it would never happen.
How have the last few years changed your popularity, as far as when you go out in public.
Anais: Oh, there's a huge difference. Especially over here in America, because we haven't released anything special in Europe. So we're really working over here. I remember the first time we came here, we performed at a mall and like nobody was there. We were like, "Ok, one day maybe we'll have fans."
Anna: Now when we do shows we're recognizing the fans. It's really cool.
So you find yourself more recognized in America then in Sweden?
Faye: We released like one single two years ago.
Anais: We didn't have time to do any promotion. We're going back to Europe this fall.
Anna: We're looking forward to that.
