| Play's self-titled debut mini-album, released last June, was on Billboard's 200 best-selling albums chart for more than five months. From that release, hot track "Us Against the World" has been a winner on Nickelodeon's online fan-based "Nick Picks," and "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," Play's take on the Motown classic, became a hit on Radio Disney. Here's what the girls, whose new album "Replay" comes out next month, had to say: Q: When did you meet? Anais: Our manager got us together about two years ago. Q: Who influenced you to sing? Anais: I was influenced by my family. Faye: Different artists, like Destiny's Child, Aretha Franklin and Janet Jackson. Rosie: And Michael Jackson. Q: Do you write your own songs? Anais: Me and Faye have a lot of fun writing songs. We hope to have some of them on our next album. Q: Do you play any instruments? Rosie: I've tried the violin, cello, flute and piano, but I'm not good at any of them. Anais: I play the drums, but I'm not really good. Q: Who is the crazy one of the group? Rosie: That would be me. I'm totally crazy. Anais: Rosie does the crazy stuff. She's split her pants three times while onstage. Q: We read that one of you has a crush on Bow Wow. Is that true? Anais: It's me, and it's true. (She shows us a poster board covered with Bow Wow photos.) I think he's really cute. Q: Did you have fun making the soundtrack for "The Master of Disguise?" Rosie: Yes. That was so much fun. Faye: We flew from Europe to L.A. in the middle of the night and started recording at midnight. Q: What do you do to prepare before a show? Anna: You know in that movie "Bring It On" [with Kirsten Dunst], where they sing "I'm cute," etc.? Well, we sing it ... using our names. Everybody looks at us like we're strange. Q: What are your interests outside of music? Anna: All we do is sing! That's all we have time for. Anais: We do a lot of shopping, go to the movies and hang out with our friends. Q: How many countries have you visited? Anais: We've been to every state in America, all over Europe, the Bahamas, Japan, all over the world. Q: Where do you see yourselves in 10 years? Anna: I think we're just focusing on what's happening now. Anais: Yes, we have a lot happening. Our second album [was released in October]. We'll be doing a lot of touring. |
