- The Fire Still Burns -
Dedication and Determination
Cody: Read em and weep, brotha.
-[ Cody dangles his Advantage Wrestling Tag Team Championship belt in front of Foxx Regors face. They are both in the mens locker room of The Butchers Clinic and Foxx is getting ready for class. The gold shines in his face and blinds him momentarily as the lights reflect off of it. Even the skeptical Foxx Regor is impressed, but of course hes too proud of a man to show it. Besides, he likes messing with Cody. ]-
Foxx: Took you long enough.
-[ Regor extends his left hand, attempting to grasp the title to look at it more closely. Cody jerks back quickly though, making sure his prize isnt tarnished with the rookies touch. ]-
Cody: You can look but you cant touch.
Foxx: You know, Im surprised you didnt all ready lose those titles before you left the arena.
Cody: Thats a rookie mistake.
-[ Cody winks at Foxx Regor. Regor makes his way towards the exit of the locker room, paying little attention to Cody. Cody follows slowly. ]-
Foxx: So, whos next?
Cody: I dont know. We had last week off and the front office is planning on keeping us off the pay-per-view.
Foxx: Of course. Whos going to buy a PPV with you on it anyway?
-[ Foxx Regor walks into the gymnasium, leaving Cody in the small hallway with his mouth open in awe. Regor walks over to the ring where his classmates are getting in some early chit-chat before class begins. Cody walks in the opposite direction, where Tomorrow Man is talking with The Butcher. As he joins the two, they stop talking and look at him. ]-
Cody: Butch.
The Butcher: Cody.
-[ The Butcher then starts to look at him funny. Cody looks back, not understanding why his friend is looking at him like that. ]-
Cody: What?
The Butcher: I dont know. Theres just something different looking about you. I cant tell what it is though.
-[ Cody looks down on his left shoulder where the AW Tag Team Title is resting. He then looks at The Butcher with a grin. ]-
The Butcher: I just cant place it.
Cody: Youre a smart guy. Youll figure it out someday.
The Butcher: Maybe. But hey, Ive got a class to teach.
-[ The Butcher walks over towards the ring where his students are chatting. Once they see him coming, they stop out of respect. ]-
The Butcher: Today, class, I have an important lesson to teach you. Most of the time we practice the basics and fundamentals of wrestling but being able to pull off most moves doesnt make you a great wrestler. To be a great wrestler you need to have certain qualities. Some are born with them, some learn them over time. But all great wrestlers have them by the end of their careers. Those qualities are dedication and determination. You have to dedicate your life to this profession and the goals you want to accomplish to be a great wrestler. You have to give it your all, day in and day out. From the beginning of the match, to the end. If you half-ass it, youll only be a half-ass wrestler. You also have to have the willpower within to battle through each match. Even when the chips are down, and things arent going your way, a great wrestler wont quit. A great wrestler will scrap and fight til the bitter end, and if you lose, pick yourself up and improve on your mistakes. It took me over half my career to learn those qualities but some lessons come hard. You see those two men over there?
-[ The Butcher turns and points at Cody and Tomorrow Man. They both look at him. ]-
The Butcher: Theyre both younger and have less experience than me, but those two men right there are the ones that taught me dedication and determination. They give their all to this profession and they dont lie down and die when thing arent going their way. And thats why theyre wearing championship gold today. They are proof and I am proof of what you can accomplish when you have those two qualities working for you. Keep that in mind and never forget, class. You can be great if you allow yourself to be.
-[ The Butcher ends his speech and Cody and Tomorrow Man make their way towards the exit of the facility with their Tag Team gold. They are proud of what The Butcher said about them, and they will do their best to keep doing what theyve been doing for the past 5 years. Always raising the bar and never giving up. ]-
