- The Fire Still Burns -
Damaged Goods?
Part One

-[ Once again, Cody and Tomorrow Man had a good showing at Monday Insomnia but this time it produced something. It produced their first official win in Advantage Wrestling. Not too shabby. Now instead of being in the middle of the Tag Team Division, Cody and Tomorrow Man find themselves in front and in line for a shot at the Tag Team Championship. Amazing what two good showings will do for you. But Monday Insomnia didnt just produce positive things. No, there were some negatives that occurred at the end of the show. For starters, their competition of the night, Devine Morality, ended up being the evil Bronx and Brooklyn, collectively known as The Manhattan Project. Underneath Devine Morality was a farce of the name. Bronx and Brooklyn are some of the most devious men in the business and theyre sure to shake up the Tag Team Division and Advantage Wrestling as a whole. And if that wasnt enough bad news, Devilz Darkside took it upon themselves to attack the new #1 Contenders from behind, making their presence felt and rekindling an old feud between the two teams. So now, A Tendency 2 Start Fires doesnt find themselves out front anymore, but back in the middle of a hostile situation. ]-
-[ Cody and Tomorrow Man have returned to their hometown of San Francisco this week to catch up on their mail and to finally get some comfortable sleep in their own beds. But this trip back home is not all comfort and leisure. No, two weeks ago during the Tag Team Royal Rumble match, Tomorrow Man injured his left shoulder while attacking X-Rated. And then at the recent Insomnia event, Devilz Darkside took advantage and injured Tomorrow Man some more. ]-
-[ Now he finds himself and Cody in a physical therapists office waiting to be checked out. Hes sitting in a comfortable chair with an old Time magazine. Hes flipping through the pages reading some of the articles of news events that occurred months ago and are now old news. Cody on the other hand, is holding a magazine but using it for cover while he checks out the cute receptionist through her small window booth. She catches him looking so he smiles at her and then goes back to pretend hes reading the magazine. After a brief moment, Cody stands up from his chair, walks past the window slowly, and grabs a different magazine. He then walks back to his seat by Tomorrow Man, leans over, and whispers quietly to his friend. ]-
Cody: No ring on her finger. Im in.
-[ Tomorrow Man looks up from his magazine and looks at Cody. The receptionist looks at Cody, obviously flirting back. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Huh?
-[ Cody opens up the magazine and brings it up to his mouth so the receptionist cant read his lips. He then whispers back. ]-
Cody: She doesnt have a ring on her ring finger. So she isnt married. Tomorrow Man: Who? Cody: The receptionist!
-[ Tomorrow Man looks at the cute receptionist but shes turned away and isnt looking at Cody anymore. Tomorrow Man then looks at Cody again and starts to chuckle to himself. ]-
Cody: Whats so funny?
-[ Tomorrow Man points at Codys new magazine. Cody then looks at it and sees what his friend is laughing at. The magazine is upside down for starters and its a Highlights magazine, a magazine that has all sorts of kids activities in it. He was so preoccupied by the receptionists hand that he didnt even notice he grabbed a kids magazine. Cody looks back at the receptionist and she looks back with an unimpressed look now. Tomorrow Man continues to chuckle to himself while Cody sinks back into his chair due to embarrassment. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Smooth. Cody: Oh shut up! Tomorrow Man: I guess thats what happens when the world is your dating service. Cody: Hey man, Ive got the goods. Might as well use them productively. Tomorrow Man: You call that productive? Cody: Yes. Tomorrow Man: Then what did you learn from it? Cody: That chick is whacked.
-[ Tomorrow Man shakes his head and sees that the receptionist is looking at them both and listening to what theyre saying. Shes a bit miffed because she knows Cody is talking about her. So to save face, Tomorrow Man makes it known that Cody is the one with problems, not him. So he looks at the receptionist. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Youll have to excuse my friend, maam. In case you havent noticed, he is going through a hard part of his life right now. He was dumped by his homosexual lover last night, and now hes trying to be a straight single man. I think its pretty obvious that hes failing.
-[ The receptionist laughs and then goes back to her work while Cody is looking at Tomorrow Man with his jaw nearly hitting the floor. ]-
Cody: I cant believe you just did that! Tomorrow Man: Oh, no need to thank me. I was just spreading the word.
-[ Tomorrow Man looks up from his magazine and grins. ]-
Cody: Since when did you become such a smart ass? Tomorrow Man: Ive been hanging around you too much. Cody: Just calm down, dude. Dont take your frustration with women out on me. Tomorrow Man: Hey, Im not frustrated with women! I chose to live my life this way and Im happy with it. Cody: Just because Kate is gone shouldnt mean you have to end your life too, you know.
-[ Tomorrow Man points at Cody sternly. ]-
Tomorrow Man: I told you NOT to bring her up! Cody: Ok, sorry.
-[ Tomorrow Man goes back to reading his Time magazine while Cody starts to make his way through a kids maze with his finger. He quickly becomes bored with it, though, and attempts to further the conversation without pushing Tomorrow Mans buttons anymore. ]-
Cody: Dont you just wish you could get out there againand explore? Tomorrow Man: What are you talking about? Cody: You know, women.
-[ Tomorrow Man looks up from his magazine again. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Of course. Cody: Then why dont you? Tomorrow Man: I all ready told you, I promised Kate I wouldnt. Cody: But why?
-[ Tomorrow Man is getting aggravated by this but he answers Codys question anyway. Its not like there is anything good to read. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Because she was the one for me. I loved her, I still do, and I always will. Just because she was taken from me doesnt mean I can just move on and forget her. Cody: I know, but that was 10 years ago. Havent things changed since then? Dont you want to settle down somewhere someday and not be alone? Maybe have a kid or two? Have a family of your own? Tomorrow Man: Perhaps. Cody: I know last year when Nikki and I were having our little thing and she told me she was pregnant, I was scared. Me, a dad, can you imagine that? But you know what, when youre expecting a kid you grow up really fast. You take care of things and make sure everythings going to be good when you come home from the hospital with that kid. You make sure that your kid has enough money for a good education and will have an awesome life of their own. I was busting, man. That fear became joy and I looked at life in a whole different perspective. Tomorrow Man: Yeah I remember. You tuned into a jerk. Cody: Hey, what can I say? We all thought Jimmy was dead so I took Nikki and told her how I felt. Then when he came back out of no where, of course I turned into an asshole. I had to protect what was mine. Then when that bastard Frostie came around and killed my son before he was even born, I lost everything. Tomorrow Man: Yeah and no one knows where Frostie went after Jimmy kicked his ass. Cody: Hopefully, to Hell. Tomorrow Man: Yeah. Cody: Listen, all Im getting at is someday youve got to move on and test the waters again. You cant keep living in the past, especially when something like that happened. I bet you Kate would even want you to move on.
-[ Tomorrow Man thinks about what his long time friend has just said, and it does make sense but he still feels guilty. Then the door to the offices open and a large nurse with glasses is standing at the door. She speaks up with an almost masculine voice. ]-
Nurse: Tom Man.
-[ Tomorrow Man looks at Cody who is grinning devilishly. He called in his friends appointment and left the name Tom Man to keep Tomorrow Mans identity secret. As stupid as it sounds, it works. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Uh, yeah? Nurse: Come with me, youre next.
-[ Tomorrow Man gets up and walks over to the table with the magazines and sets his back down. He then follows the nurse to the back, leaving Cody to watch as his friend exits the room with the linebacker of a woman. He laughs quietly and starts to thumb through the Highlights magazine some more. ]-
Cody: Damn, shes a big woman.
