- The Fire Still Burns -
Agent Atkins
Part One
-[ The silver chain necklace under Codys undershirt bounced back and forth off his chest with each stride he made. The emblem on the end of it signified an era of pure dominance in the tag team wrestling world. A dominance that came to an abrupt end in March of 2002. The emblems perfectly carved T2SFfrom pure silver stood for one thing, but the acronym itself meant a lot. A Tendency 2 Start Fires. ]-
-[ Many in the world believed they knew what it meant but only few could possibly conceive the underlying meaning. No, Cody and his former counterpart Tomorrow Man were not literal arsonists like many had figured. Even with that stated, many people will still make the error of assuming thats what they are. During the years 1999 and 2000 they could be conceived as arsonists in a wrestling federation called the Global Fantasy Wrestling Alliance. And they set the Tag Team Division on fire the minute they walked through the doors. But all the classic rivalries the GFWA Hall of Famers once had only exist in the minds of those who witnessed them. It was time to move on. ]-
-[ The emblem continues to beat on his chest almost rhythmically and then it soon gets out of tune. He begins to slow down on the San Francisco boulevard, keeping his eyes transfixed on something that has caught his attention. A woman. ]-
-[ Ah yes, the great killer of great menan attractive female. She is walking his way and he cant help but stare deeply with his hazel eyes into the luscious blondes eyes, almost peering into her soul. And she returns the look as she sees the handsome man but her motivations are different than his. She wants love but he just wants to get laid. Who said the game of love is easy? ]-
-[ Then they walk past each other, smile, and keep on moving in the direction where theyre going. Cody of course turns around to see if he can get a nice look at her ass and finds her doing the same exact thing. He smiles and she smiles back with a blush of embarrassment on her face. Most guys would take this as a golden chance to hit on her and try to hook up but Cody isnt into that. He rather save it for a more golden moment then this. So he turns back around and continues to walk, leaving her dejected. Hes confident hell see her again though. San Francisco is a big city but it isnt big enough. ]-
Cody: Ive still got it.
-[ The emblem once again begin to rhythmically beat on his chest, right over his heart. Falling in love with women isnt what Cody likes to do. He did that once before and he got royally burned for it because the woman belonged to another man, so now he continues to be the playa that he is. Hes young and likes to have his fun so settling down for him isnt in the foreseeable future. ]-
-[ Love of competition is one of the things he takes pleasure in though. Its one of the many things the emblem T2SF stands for. Its a philosophy. Its a way of life. There is no clear cut definition of what it all means though. Its just something some people are born with. Its something that burns inside certain men and womens hearts and minds that most wish they had. The extra drive to succeed. The will to win. Never giving up at all costs. Thats what A Tendency 2 Start Fires is all about. ]-
-[ Cody understands it and so does his partner Tomorrow Man. Tomorrow Man is only a few blocks down the street from Cody, walking towards him at about the same pace. He is struck by a similar situation as Cody just was. Only for Tomorrow Man he handles the situation quite differently. There is an attractive medium sized girl with short black hair and black glasses walking his way. Shes holding two hardcover books she just got from the library close to her chest and she sees him walking towards her. Then with the sudden lack of concentration, as shes crossing the street she trips on the curb of the new block. She falls to her knees and drops the books onto the concrete sidewalk. Being the nice guy that Tomorrow Man is, he crouches down and helps her pick up her books. ]-
Girl: Thanks. Im so clumsy.
Tomorrow Man: You going to be all right?
Girl: Yeah, Ill be fine. Thanks.
-[ They both rise and look each other in the eye. Tomorrow Man looks down at one of the books shes hugging tightly again and sees that its a book about modern medicine. She breaks the slight silence and extends her hand towards him. ]-
Girl: Im Amy by the way.
-[ Tomorrow Man gently shakes her hand, and avoids telling her his true name for now. He points at the book of modern medicine to change the subject quickly. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Are you a doctor?
Amy: Physical therapist. Im trying to catch up on some things.
-[ Tomorrow Man then realizes what hes doing and begins to make his way past her. ]-
Tomorrow Man: It was nice to meet you, Amy. Have fun catching up with your work.
-[ He then walks away and his actions confuse Amy. She doesnt understand why hes willing to walk away so easily when they had some sort of chemistry right off the bat. She assumes that he was married or taken so she just continues on her way. ]-
-[ Tomorrow Man isnt married nor does he have a girlfriend. And even though he lives in San Francisco, he isnt a homosexual either. No, deep down inside himself he has his own reasons as to why he could just walk away like that. Hes done it a million times. And the reason is one he keeps with himself and those hes close to. He was only 19 years old at the time but he knew what love was. His heart belonged to 18 year old Katie Pearson but he could never tell her. The phrase I love you was a big thing to say but he didnt want to say it because he wasnt sure if she felt the same. ]-
-[ So he took her out one night to the Sugar Cane Ice Cream Shop in San Francisco. He knew, as they walked back to the car, that this was his moment to tell her. Not even 10 yards from his car he stopped her to tell her the words of his heart. Before he could even begin, six police cars turned the corner and stopped right before the bank they were standing in front of. And thats when four masked men exited the bank and began shooting their guns to escape the police. The couple ducked but it was too late. Kate was shot fatally in the back and fell to the concrete in a pool of her own blood. The young Tomorrow Man held her up in his arms, trying to revive her, but it was too late. She was gone. ]-
-[ As he held her, the shoot out came to an end when 3 of the 4 bank robbers were shot to death and the other one escaped, never to be caught. Everyone in the bank ran out in fear and Cody was one of them. He was cashing his pay check when this all went down. Most of his life the 15-year old Cody believed he was immune from the worlds problems but that night he received a swift kick in the ass by it. He watched Tomorrow Man, who was a complete stranger at the time, cry as paramedics carried Kates lifeless body away. That was the first time Cody and Tomorrow Man met and they would move on a few years later as complete strangers. Tomorrow Man to this very day feels her warm blood in his hands and that is why he doesnt get close to women anymore. There is always something there to remind him of her death. When she died he promised to her and himself that he would never love another woman again for as long as he lived. And although the road he took has been hard, hes kept that promise. ]-
-[ Thats one of the many differences between Cody and Tomorrow Man. Tomorrow Man is a highly moral person while Cody has some moral flexibility. But both get along rather well despite their apparent differences and thats what has made A Tendency 2 Start Fires unique. Too bad the chances of them working in a wrestling ring together again is not good. Or so they thought. ]-
