- A Man With No Existence -
Wanted and Unwanted Guests: Part 2
Last time we saw The Butcher he was with Tomorrow Man and they both had the untimely opportunity to get attacked by a strange man and woman, via home invasion. The woman appeared to have known The Butcher but he didnt recognize her. Before he could even really get a glimpse of the woman, she kissed him, and then he passed out because her lipstick had a sedation agent in it. Just as The Butcher was falling asleep, he heard a horrific gun shot from the gun the man had pointed at Tomorrow Man. Now for the conclusion to answer your questions.
-[ In the distance there is a sea gull crowing to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. It is a beautiful dayfor a kidnapping. Todays scene is at a large estate just outside San Francisco and if you look out to the ocean and a little to the left you can see the silhouette of Golden Gate Bridge, which is miles away. The estate has a nice view of the ocean and proper dockage to take the 60 foot schooner out to sea whenever youd like. And to add more high class, the manor has a considerably large pool even though the property has its own beach front. One can only guess the square footage the house has. Maybe somewhere around the 10,000 mark. Its quite an awesome sight where anybody would feel comfortable living there. Youd also be comfortable with the money youve got to own this place. ]-
-[ But who does own this place? Theyd have to be very wealthy and have good taste. Then Cody comes into the picture. Hes dressed up as if hes just about to relax all day. Hes wearing khaki shorts and has his white undershirt tucked into them a little. Hes also wearing a matching white baseball cap. As we follow him through the backyard, a beige dog runs up to him and he pets it. ]-
Cody: Chelsea, whats up girl?
-[ The dog obviously doesnt respond and begins to walk by Codys side as he saunters towards the home. Notice one thing though, there are men dressed in black security outfits, positioned perfectly around the compound. Whoevers home this is, they must be powerful and have enemies if bodyguards are needed at your own home. Cody walks up to one of the guards and shakes the mans hand. The African American bodyguard speaks into his headset. ]-
Guard: Sector B2 secure. Over and out.
Cody: Hows it going, Roger? Hows the family?
Guard: Things are good, Mr. Carmichael. My daughter just got engaged yesterday.
Cody: Thats great! Tell Anita I wish her good luck.
Guard: I will, sir.
-[ Cody then walks away towards the house. Of course, Chelsea the dog follows by his side. He opens one of the side doors made of fine wood and glass and walks inside. Inside is just as impressive as outside. The home stereo system is playing jazz music throughout the house. He stops and looks around the house at the amazing picturesque scene. He is on the first floor, but if you go down a few stairs to the right or left, they lead to the living room which is seen from nearly ever angle of the first floor. Cody walks down the stairs on the right and enters the living room floor. The main floor has the usual furniture and a giant television set thats so big its almost sick. Cody walks over to the sofa where he finds an artistic sculpture. He looks at the weird thing, but not being artistic himself, he has no idea what the sculpture is supposed to be. He looks around him and notices that hes literally the center of attention in the home. Finally, another person is found inside the home. Walking down the stairs, that twist from the living room to the second floor, is an average sized brunette in a red business skirt with a matching blouse. She meets up with Cody near the bottom of the stairway. ]-
Cody: Hello, Ms. Hutchinson. How are you today?
Ms. Hutchinson: I am doing quite well thank you. How are you?
Cody: Good. Just a little confused.
Ms. Hutchinson: Why is that?
Cody: I dont understand why Im here. I was told by Scorpio to come here because Sydney Sparks wanted to talk to me.
Ms. Hutchinson: Yeah, thats right. Sydney will be down shortly. For now he wants you to wait in the courtyard.
-[ Cody laughs comfortably. ]-
Cody: I forget where that is. There are too many doors.
-[ Ms. Hutchinson laughs with him. ]-
Ms. Hutchinson: Dont worry about it. It took me a few weeks to figure out where everything was. Follow me.
-[ Ms. Hutchinson leads Cody to the first floor again, and then out another wood and glass door. As they enter the courtyard together, a body guard turns Cody around and frisks him. ]-
Cody: Jesus! Watch where you touch me, man!
Ms. Hutchinson: Dont worry about it, Mr. Carmichael. Its just protocol.
-[ Ms. Hutchinson waves the bodyguard off and he leaves. Cody turns around to see if the courtyard looks just as dazzling as everything else. Instead of being impressed, he is brought to anger. ]-
Cody: What the fuck is going on?!
-[ Cody points at the table on the deck where we find The Butcher and Tomorrow Man tied up to chairs and unconscious. Ms. Hutchinson walks over to the table and pulls out one of the open chairs for Cody. ]-
Ms. Hutchinson: Please, sit down.
Cody: Not until I know why theyre here!
Ms. Hutchinson: Sydney will be down shortly. Hell explain when he comes down. Please sit.
-[ Cody takes off his hat, punches the inside, and then puts his hat back on. ]-
Cody: Damn it!
-[ He then sits down. As soon as he sits down, Ms. Hutchinson walks around the other side of the table towards The Butcher and Tomorrow Man. She pulls out a small flask from her skirt pocket. She rubs the orange substance on her right index finger and then rubs her finger on The Butcher and Tomorrow Mans nostrils. Moments later they both begin to stir and awake, just as angry as Cody is. The Butcher and Tomorrow Man notice that they are tied up tightly and that Cody is sitting across from them. ]-
The Butcher: You son of a bitch!
-[ Cody crosses his arms and looks away from The Butcher with a scowl. Tomorrow Man is still feeling the effects of the tranquilizer dart he received back at his apartment. ]-
Tomorrow Man: Whereare we?
The Butcher: Good question. What do you want, Cody? Why
Cody: shut up! I dont even know why Im here let alone know why you two are here!
Ms. Hutchinson: Sydney Sparks will be down
Cody: shortly. I know, I know.
-[ Ms. Hutchinson leaves the courtyard and returns back inside. Cody looks at Tomorrow Man, who is half out of it still, and feels bad that his long time friend and tag team partner has been put in a precarious situation. Cody gets up from the table and walks over to Tomorrow Man. ]-
Cody: If I untie you, will you kick my ass?
Tomorrow Man: Icant evensee straight.
Cody: Hold on.
-[ Cody kneels behind Tomorrow Man and reaches for the tightly bound rope. Before he can make a move to untie the knot, Roger, the bodyguard from earlier, grabs Cody by the shoulders and turns him around. ]-
Guard: Dont do that, Mr. Carmichael. Mr. Sparks wants them tied up for now. Go sit back down.
Cody: Fine.
-[ Cody goes back to his seat and sits down. ]-
The Butcher: So, Cody, how have things been?
Cody: Obviously better than they have been for you.
-[ Cody looks at the rope that holds The Butcher down to the chair. ]-
The Butcher: Obviously.
Cody: So how have things been for you?
The Butcher: Perfect, actually. Im fitting in quite well in the San Francisco area. But of course, Ive made enemies quickly it appears.
Cody: Youre going to kill me arent you?
The Butcher: That sounds about right.
Cody: You know, I never meant for any of this to happen. But I have to take care of my own now.
The Butcher: You mean what was mine.
Cody: If I knew you were coming back, things would have been different you know.
The Butcher: Oh so if you knew I was coming back then you wouldnt have touched my wife? Is that what youre saying?
Cody: Hey she went along with it too! It isnt totally my fault.
The Butcher: You took advantage of her.
Cody: So what? What if I did? It was worth it and she thinks it was too.
The Butcher: Youre full of shit.
Cody: Am I? Who does she come home to every night? Who does she dream of being with every day for the rest of her life? Who is the father of her kid? Me. She could have easily walked out that door the minute you came back into our lives. But she didnt.
-[ Cody bangs his fists down onto the table. ]-
Cody: I gave her everything you couldnt give her, Jimmy! Shes happy now.
-[ The Butcher laughs. ]-
The Butcher: Shes happy? Yeah, sure she is. Every second she spends with you is Hell for her. She doesnt fit into this scene youre into.
Cody: What scene?
The Butcher: Look around you. There are freakin bodyguards hanging out all over the place! Do you think she enjoys living in a world where when she comes home she has to live with 50 other people to keep her alive? I dont know about you, but she hates the type of life youre giving her.
Sydney: Ah, my guests have arrived!
-[ Cody turns around from his chair and looks at a man who appears to be in his mid-30s. The man is dressed nicely and appears to have just gotten out of an intense meeting. He unties his tie and hands it to a bodyguard who then walks away. He then unbuttons his top dress shirt button to feel more comfortable. Cody gets up and walks over to the man and shakes his hand. ]-
Cody: Sydney, its nice to see you again.
Sydney: Likewise, Cody. I see you have brought some friends.
Cody: Oh, they were here when I got here. But you already knew that.
Sydney: Yes. Come on, lets sit down. Guards, please untie my friends.
-[ A few bodyguards walk over to The Butcher and Tomorrow Man and untie them from their chairs. Sydney Sparks extends his hand to The Butcher and Tomorrow Man. They dont shake back. Sydney then lowers his hand to his side, knowing that they arent going to shake his hand, and he respects that. ]-
Sydney: It is great to finally meet you two, especially you, Jimmy Cortez.
The Butcher: Who are you and what are we doing here?
Sydney: My name is Sydney Sparks. I am the person you know as Codys benefactor. And why are you here? Its a nice day out and I thought we should finally meet.
Tomorrow Man: Sent aninvite next time. Ill probablygetevicted now.
-[ Sparks chuckles and sits down next to Cody but Tomorrow Man and The Butcher remain standing. ]-
Sydney: Next time I will. Please, sit down. May I get you anything to drink?
The Butcher: No, we just want to leave.
Sydney: Please, sit down. This will go much easier if you did.
The Butcher: It will go much easier if I kick your ass!
-[ The Butcher makes his way towards the benefactor but he gets held up by the bodyguards. They force The Butcher and Tomorrow Man to sit down and then stand near them so they cant move again. Ms. Hutchinson comes back out of the house with a set of folders. She hands them to Sydney and then walks away again. ]-
Sydney: Please, weve gone this far. We might as well continue.
-[ He opens up one of the folders and starts to read one of the documents to himself. ]-
Sydney: Mr. Cortez, you have an impressive biography and your will to survive all the troubles in your life has been an impressive story of its own. This is undoubtedly another situation you arent in control of and I wonder what is going through your mind right now. Maybe youre trying to think of a way to escape. Maybe youre thinking of a way to get to me. Maybe youre wondering how you got involved in this mess.
The Butcher: Yeah, Id like to know that. And Id also like to know how you know who I am.
Sydney: Easy. There is one man that links you to me. You might remember him or maybe youve forgotten him purposely. Oh look at that, there is some more room at the table! Maybe we should bring him in.
-[ Again, Ms. Hutchinson walks out of the house but this time she is behind a man in a wheel chair. She helps wheel him towards the table where The Butcher, Cody, and Tomorrow Man all stare at the man with dumbfounded looks. ]-
Sydney: Maybe you remember your mentorMr. Warlock.
The Butcher: How?
Sydney: How is he alive? One can only imagine how he survived the deadly gun shot wound to the head that you gave him last year. But alas, Mr. Warlock is dead anyway. The bullet wound destroyed all of his mobile abilities and he cant survive without his wonderful machine to help him breathe. His body is essentially dead but I know he is still alive inside that head of histhinking of incredible thoughts.
-[ Mr. Warlock looks at The Butcher and he looks back. Mr. Warlock blinks his eyes slowly at him, almost as if hes saying hello ghoulishly. ]-
Sydney: There is a lot of information to digest, Mr. Cortez, and this meeting wont even dent part of it. You are not ready for most of it so it will be explained later.
The Butcher: Im sure it will. You people have a way of just showing up in my life.
-[ Sydney hands Cody a folder and he opens it up. He drops the contents across the table to reveal that they are pictures of The Butcher and Nikki meeting in public while Cody was unaware. ]-
Sydney: Those were surveillance picture taken over the last month. Amazing, Cody. I help you get what you want and you dont take care of it. Its quite disappointing to see that you cant even control the beautiful Nikki Sizzio.
-[ Sydney waves another folder marked Sizzio, Nikki in The Butchers face. ]-
Sydney: Of course she is as resourceful as she is beautiful.
-[ Cody picks up one of the pictures and tears it up in anger. ]-
Sydney: Mr. Carmichael, there are winners and there are losers in this world and I figured you to be a winner. Even Mr. Warlock considered you to be worthy of joining The Circle but he misjudged you apparently. So Im afraid Im the one that has to break the news to you and tell you that youve been thrown out of the group.
Cody: Come on, Sydney! I couldnt help this!
Sydney: Yes, you could have but you care too much to do what is necessary. So we have to do what is necessary to protect The Circle and our investments.
Cody: What are you going to do? Kill me?
-[ Sydney laughs out loud. ]-
Sydney: Just make you wish we did. The minute you leave here, your assets will be frozen and any record of you will be destroyed.
The Butcher: Just like me.
Sydney: Precisely.
Cody: You cant do that! Im starting a fucking family damn it!
Sydney: No youre not.
Cody: What do you mean?
-[ Sydney grins mischievously. ]-
The Butcher: You leave Nikki out of this!
Sydney: Its too late. Weve had her removed for the time being
-[ The Butcher flips over the table and the pictures go flying everywhere. Before he can get to Sydney, the bodyguards grab him and start to do a number on him. Cody and Tomorrow Man attempt to help but they get taken care of as well. Battered, bruised, and bloodied, all three are forced to the ground and tied up. ]-
Sydney: This has been entertaining so far and it is bound to get more entertaining as time progresses. Dont worry, Mr. Cortez, she is still alive. Besides, I think its pretty obviously she wants to be with you. So Ill tell you what. In a few days youll receive some information regarding her and her ware bouts. It should make some entertaining television, might I add.
The Butcher: You better hope I dont get my hands on you!
Sydney: Yes, this should be very entertaining. Guards, get these men out of here. Make sure they cant retrace their steps back here.
-[ The bodyguards pick up the three and begin to drag them out of the courtyard. ]-
Sydney: Oh and one more thing before you go! Remember, you can live your lives all you want, but you cant control them. I do.
-[ The bodyguards drag the three through the house and out the front door. Then they are gagged, blindfolded, and thrown into separate vehicles. As the vehicles drive away from the house and back in the direction of San Francisco, Sydney looks at Mr. Warlock. ]-
Sydney: Father would be proud.
-[ Mr. Warlock blinks his eyes slowly once to agree with Sydney. The scene fades out with him looking at Nikkis file and Ms. Hutchinson taking Mr. Warlock back inside. ]-
