-[ Finally, after 3 weeks of being out of the picture, we get another glimpse of The Butcher and his complicated life. Over the weeks nothing new has really happened to fix the clutter that is The Butchers life, so we havent missed much. Hes still staying with Tomorrow Man, in his apartment, while he earns more money to get his own apartment in the San Francisco Bay Area. See, he cant go back to New York City, not while his main focus is here. He still has Nikkis love and he still considers himself married to her despite the world having no record of the marriage nor any record of Jimmy Cortez even existing. The mission is not winning back Nikkis love, he always had that, but the mission is trying to figure out how his entire existence could simply disappear. He believes the clue to the puzzle is his one time friend and father of Nikkis unborn child, Cody Carmichael. ]-
-[ Why would he think Cody is the clue to everything? Because hes gained the most out of The Butchers death. He gained money, power, and respect with The Butcher being gone, not to mention being allowed to screw Nikki whenever he feels like it. Cody Carmichael was once an open man in this world, but now he keeps his life to himself. He goes out late at night sometimes and comes back in the morning with bruises and a sore body along with an extra 10 grand in his bank account. Even more deeply concealed in mystery is Codys unknown benefactor. The Butcher would like to meet this benefactor someday and figure out the mystery behind him. Thats why Cody is the key to this all. ]-
-[ The Butcher hates the whats going on with a passion. He hates it almost as much as he does Frostie, because without him, none of this would have been possible. If Frostie didnt nearly kill The Butcher, he would still be back in Harlem with his wife Nikki, and that unborn child could have been his. Not to mention Cody and Tomorrow Man would undoubtedly still be the legendary tag team A Tendency 2 Start Fires. ]-
-[ But what pisses The Butcher off the most is that his soul mate is trapped in the middle of all of this. True, it is her fault that shes pregnant with Codys child and shell be the first to admit it; but to have to be stuck with Cody and be unhappy for the sake of her childs safety angers The Butcher the most. Hes forgiven her for her huge mistake and nothing has changed between them because he knows she still and always will love him. To prove that she still cared, she saved all of the journals The Butcher wrote from the beginning of his career until his death. She saved them to remind herself of him because they were his words and feelings. But since he was still alive, she felt it necessary to give them back to him so he could continue. Thats what we find The Butcher doing now. Hes in Tomorrow Mans apartment looking at the last journal entries at Tomorrow Mans desk. Next to him are five large boxes filled with the journals in the order that they were written in. Tomorrow Man is leaning back in his comfortable chair, watching television. As The Butcher turns to the last page written on, he reads the last entry aloud. ]-The Butcher: February 2. Frostie will get his today. Signed, The pissed off and pumped up Butcher.
-[ Tomorrow Man turns his attention from the television and looks at The Butcher. ]-Tomorrow Man: What was that? The Butcher: Oh nothing. I was just reading my last entry out loud to myself. I wrote it just before my match with Frostie back in February. Tomorrow Man: I see. I forget, why do you write pretty much everything down in your journals? The Butcher: Insurance. Tomorrow Man: Insurance? The Butcher: Ive insured my memory when I get amnesia. All I have to remember is how to read. Tomorrow Man: Ah. Good idea.
-[ Tomorrow Man goes back to watching the television. ]-The Butcher: Do you have a pen?
-[ Tomorrow Man never takes his eyes off the television and speaks in a brain dead voice. ]-Tomorrow Man: In the top desk drawer.
-[ The Butcher opens the top desk drawer and finds a small box of pens. He opens the box and takes out a fresh pen. He takes the cap off, places it on the bottom of the pen, and starts to write something after his last passage. ]-
| September 20, 2002 Dear Elderly Butcher, It has been awhile since my last entry and if you dont remember, Ive had a hectic past six months. I nearly died in that match against Frostiewell I did die in that match against Frostie. Everyone assumed I was dead and I was buried alive. Dont ask how I escaped because I dont even know how I did. I just woke up one day and found myself somewhere in the Northwestern Territories of Canada. Dont ask how I got there, just know youve been there and it isnt a wonderful place to visit. Its cold and has polar bearsI think. See, my memory is all ready going. It was like being born again except this time I had clothes on. Oh and there wasnt a doctor to slap me on the ass like being born was a crime. How is it my fault that Im such an ugly human being? Keep in mind, though, I did get slapped. I got slapped right in the face by the fact that I cant control my own destiny. I walked and hitch-hiked my way back to Harlem, New York to find my world turned upside down. All my saved up money was gone. My birth certificate was burned. My marriage license to Nikki did not existjust like me. There was no record of me at all in this world. It was very strange. What was even stranger was that Nikki was gone and our home was once again condemned. I met a young prostitute by the name of Zo there. Shes a good girl and helped me find Nikki once again. Thought life would turn back to normal after that? Of course not. Life isnt that easy. I come to find out shes living with Cody, engaged to him, and even pregnant with his kid. Ouch? Damn right ouch! Anyway, she and I have worked out our problems and Ill be with her every step of the way. You know that old woman youre living with but cant quite remember who she is? Thats her you dumbass! Now go tell her I said hi. My life isnt the only thing screwed up though. My career is too. I had to go back to wrestling again to earn some cash and get revenge on the man that made this all possible. I was set to destroy Frostie this weekend in my revenge wrestling match. But guess what, he ran like a little kid. The match was set and he must have gotten scared because time was running out on his life. So he ran like a coward. I really wanted to destroy him but knowing that he FEARS me will satisfy me for now. He better pray to God that I never see him again because he will not get away next time. In any event, I dont know what else to write right now. I just wanted to let you know that I DID NOT die. And Im glad youre able to keep reading these because Nikki saved them for us. Isnt she the greatest? Now go pop a Viagra pill and love her like you used to a long time agoactually, dont. Youre probably like 80 years old and thats just disgusting. Go tell her I love her. Yeah that will be good enough for me. - The Butcher PS: Im still pissed off and pumped up! |
-[ The Butcher puts the pen on the desk and closes his journal. He turns around and looks at Tomorrow Man from his seat. Tomorrow Man is being a couch potato right now so he doesnt even notice The Butcher looking at him. The Butcher sighs to himself and looks out the window at the beautiful day. He sighs again because hes wasting it all away. But his brief moment of melancholy is interrupted by a knock at the front door. Tomorrow Man doesnt move a muscle, while The Butcher goes into hiding, assuming its the landlord. There is another knock at the door and Tomorrow Man snaps out of his daze. He gets up and walks towards the door. He looks through the peephole to see who it is but he doesnt see anything except gray. Tomorrow Man thinks to himself that someone is obviously blocking the peephole on purpose, so to be safe he asks who it is before he opens. ]-Tomorrow Man: Who is it?
-[ There isnt a verbal response at all. Just another three slow knocks at the door. Tomorrow Man then puts the chain lock on the door just before he opens it slightly. ]-Tomorrow Man: What?
-[ Then suddenly a razor-sharp blade comes through the crack of the door with great precision, cutting the chain in half yet still missing Tomorrow Mans face by a quarter of an inch. Before Tomorrow Man can realize what is going on, the door gets kicked open and knocks him down to the floor. On the floor he notices that there is duct tape covering the peephole. In walks a lady and a man dressed in black clothes with matching black trench coats and sunglasses. The Butcher comes from the bedroom wondering what all the commotion is about and he walks in on the scene. With grips that die hard, the man reaches into his trench coat with lightning speed and pulls out a black hand gun. He points it at The Butcher, threatening his life, while the woman brings her katana blade onto Tomorrow Mans neck, nearly cutting his throat. The Butcher stops in his tracks. ]-The Butcher: Who are you?!
-[ The seductive woman lowers her shades a bit with her free hand, revealing green eyes. She speaks up in an even more seductive voice, yet authoritative. ]-Woman: Youre Jimmy Cortez, right? The Butcher: Yes. Why?
-[ She removes her blade from Tomorrow Mans throat, puts it away in her trench coat, and starts to walk towards The Butcher. The man then points his gun at Tomorrow Man, making sure The Butcher doesnt make a move. As the woman gets closer, she pulls out some crimson lipstick and puts it on her lips as she comes face to face with The Butcher. ]-Woman: Its nice to see you again, Jimmy. I forgot how tall you were.
-[ She then kisses him on the lips passionately but he pushes her away. Hes too late though. The damage has been done. He starts to back away from her slowly but his vision is beginning to become impaired. Then his legs give way and he falls into the chair at the desk. The woman smiles at him, turns around, and nods at the man. The man gets a malevolent grin on his face and turns to Tomorrow Man. As The Butchers eyes close, he hears a gun fire, and then he passes out. ]-
