- A Man With No Existence -
Domestic Dispute
-[ It took three days for The Butcher and Zo to drive nearly non-stop from the East Coast to the West Coast, but they have finally arrived in San Francisco. It was a long 3,000 mile drive and during that time, The Butcher and Zo bonded together by telling stories and laughing at stupid things just to pass the time. Despite the fact that they were complete strangers when they met, they learned quickly about each other and started to become good friends. Zo kept her rugged personality around people she didnt know but with The Butcher she opened up and showed her softer side. The Butcher really enjoyed her company and began to see that she shared some of the personality traits that his beloved Nikki had, and each time Zo showed one of them, The Butcher would think about Nikki and the thought that they would re-unite soon. ]-
-[ During the nights when Zo would drive, The Butcher would catch some sleep and dream about Nikki and hoped that they would never be apart again. Without her, he was nothing but a loser in life. His wrestling career went no where and he would always fall short of his goals. But as soon as he met her and fell in love with her, everything seemed to come together. He gained a new respect for life because he knew he was blessed. ]-
-[ His biggest fear was that he was too late and she had moved on. She was only 24 years old, now 25, when he was taken from this planet, and that played into his biggest fear. She was young and he was 14 years older than her, so why would she want him back? What if she met someone her own age? The Butcher brushed off those questions though because he was going back to her and thats all the mattered. ]-
-[ As he drives down Seaforth Drive with Zo in her car, he feels that shes close. They drive a few more blocks down and Zo looks around him and out the drivers side window. She notices that the Golden Gate Bridge is in plain view and only a few miles down the hill. ]-
Zo: Beautiful view.
The Butcher: Yeah. Thats what I always liked about this neighborhood. It has an awesome view when the sun sets over the bay.
-[ They drive to the end of the road where there is a nice red painted home with brown trim on the left. The Butcher pulls Zos car over to the side of the road and parks across the house. Its the home where the legendary Cody and Tomorrow Man live and train. The Butcher looks into the driveway and sees that Codys green Ford F150 truck is parked in front of the garage. Strangely, Tomorrow Mans Jeep is no where to be found. But the most surprising of all is that Nikkis teal Toyota Corolla is parked next to Codys truck. She is here. ]-
Zo: Nice home.
-[ The Butcher doesnt respond. He just looks out the window with a focused glare. ]-
Zo: Is that the place?
-[ The Butcher gives a little nod. ]-
Zo: Well, what are we waiting for? Come on!
The Butcher: Hold on.
Zo: For what?
-[ The Butcher doesnt respond. He just continues to stare at the home as if hes waiting for something. ]-
Zo: Youre afraid arent you?
-[ The Butcher turns to her and looks her dead in the eye. ]-
The Butcher: No.
Zo: Then get out of the damn car and go ring the doorbell!
-[ The Butcher turns away from her and looks back at the house when he hears the front door open. He becomes breathless as he watches Nikki come out the front door and walks to her car. She unlocks the trunk and pulls out, what appears to be, a bag of groceries and walks back inside the house. ]-
Zo: That was her wasnt it?
The Butcher: Yes it was.
Zo: Shes beautiful. God, no wonder why you talk about her so much. Come on, go see her.
The Butcher: I know, but what do I say?
Zo: I dont know. Say anything.
-[ The Butcher puts both his hands on the steering wheel and holds on tight like he wants to drive away. He thinks about doing just that for a moment until he sees his brass wedding ring on his ring finger. He looks at it and remembers its meaning. Then he mumbles to himself with a grin. ]-
The Butcher: Til death do we part
-[ Zo goes to ask him what he said, but before she can, he unbuckles his seatbelt and exits the car. He slowly jogs across the desolate street and slows down as he steps onto the driveway. Zo stays in the car with a big smile on her face because she is happy for him. The Butcher walks up the driveway carefully and slides his hand across the top of Nikkis car as he passes by, feeling even closer to her. He turns onto the small private walk and steps up to the front door. He takes a large breath of fresh air and pushes the doorbell. He waits for a minute and then starts to look through the mesh netting on the storm door as impatience sets in. Finally, a body comes to the door and opens it. ]-
Cody: Yeah?
-[ As Cody opens the door he looks The Butcher right in the face and he turns pale. The Butcher laughs at his friends reaction. ]-
The Butcher: You look like youve seen a ghost.
-[ The Butcher laughs some more but Codys face remains confused, and shows a hint of fear. ]-
Cody: Son of a bitch
-[ The Butcher shows his white grin. ]-
The Butcher: The one and only!
Cody: What the fuck are you doing here?
The Butcher: Can I come in?
Cody: No!
-[ Cody slams the storm door closed and The Butcher gets a perplexed look on his face. He opens the storm door but gets the wooden door slammed in his face. He looks back at Zo and shrugs his shoulders. Zo is standing in her car and is halfway out of the sunroof. She watched the whole thing and doesnt know what to think of it either; so she yells to The Butcher. ]-
Zo: Hey, what gives?!
-[ The Butcher shrugs his shoulders again and turns back to the wooden door. He turns the handle but its locked. He rings the door bell again and tries knocking too. He listens carefully and hears Nikkis voice from the other side talking to Cody. ]-
Nikki: Whos at the door?
Cody: Dont answer it! Im calling the cops.
-[ The Butcher then starts to pound on the door with both his fists and starts to yell. ]-
The Butcher: Nikki! Open the door!
-[ He keeps on pounding and yelling her name over and over again but no one answers. He walks over to the window and tries to look in, but he only catches a glimpse of Cody on the phone with the police. Then Cody runs over to the window and closes the blinds to obstruct The Butchers view. Zo gets out of her car in anger and runs over to The Butcher. ]-
Zo: Whats going on? Why wont that ass let you in?
The Butcher: I dont know.
Zo: What do you mean you dont know? What did you say?
The Butcher: Nothing!
Zo: Well you must have said something or else he wouldnt have slammed the door in your face!
-[ The Butcher and Zo continue to argue on the front steps and then suddenly the door opens. Behind the mesh storm door, there is a silhouette of a female. Then the storm door opens, and Nikki peaks her head out. Inside Cody yells on the phone. ]-
Cody: No! Close the door!
-[ He drops the cordless phone as he runs to pull her back inside but hes too late. By the time he gets to the door Nikki is outside hugging The Butcher with tears in her eyes. The Butcher is getting emotional as well as Cody walks out the door, infuriated with the scene. The Butcher puts both his hands on Nikkis face and wipes away her tears with his thumbs. ]-
The Butcher: Ive missed you.
-[ Nikki remains speechless, so The Butcher kisses her like old times. Cody grabs onto the back of her and tries to pull her away. ]-
Cody: All right, thats as far as this is going to go!
Nikki: Cody, stop!
Cody: No!
Zo: Back off!
Cody: Who the fuck are you, you little tramp?
The Butcher: What the hell is your problem?
Cody: My problem?
Nikki: Cody, please
-[ Cody pulls Nikki away from The Butcher and puts her behind him. ]-
Cody: This guy is my problem
The Butcher: Let her go!
Cody: No! Youre gone! Youve been gone for a long time, Butch. Weve moved on
The Butcher: Nikki, come on, lets go.
-[ Nikki stays behind Cody, wiping her remaining tears away and looks a little distraught. ]-
The Butcher: Come on, Nikki.
Nikki: I cant.
The Butcher: Why?
-[ The Butcher reaches for her but Cody knocks his hand away. Zo tries to get in his face but The Butcher holds her back to try to calm things down a bit. ]-
Cody: You dont get it do you, Butch? Things have changed since you died.
The Butcher: But I didnt die. Im alive damn it!
Cody: It doesnt matter. Everyone thought you were dead. We buried you, man, and we moved on
The Butcher: Come on, Nikki!
-[ Nikki looks away from him and stares at the ground, seemingly ashamed of herself. Cody continues to block her. ]-
Cody: Shut up and listen! You betrayed her and didnt come back. Where you left, I took off from. I fixed the hole you left in her heart. I helped her get over you, Butch. You broke her freakin heart, man, and now youre doing it again. Dont you see? You had your chance, now get out of here before you make things bad again.
Zo: Youre a fucking lunatic.
-[ Cody doesnt even pay attention to Zo. ]-
The Butcher: What are you talking about? Nikki, whats he talking about?
-[ Cody moves back a little to stand next to Nikki. He holds up her left hand to show The Butcher a different, larger wedding ring, than he gave her. ]-
Cody: See it now? Were engaged, Butch.
-[ Cody lifts up her blue shirt a little to show him her stomach. Cody then puts his left hand on her stomach. Nikki just continues to look down. ]-
Cody: Shes pregnant, Butch. Pregnant with my child. Tell him how long have you been pregnant, Nikki.
Nikki: two weeks.
Zo: I dont believe this.
-[ Cody gives The Butcher a smirk like he just pulled out a Full House in a game of poker. The Butcher doesnt believe its true until Nikki looks him in the eye and mouths Im sorry. After that, The Butcher feels like he just got slammed into a brick wall. ]-
Zo: You cant marry her, you punk ass! Shes still married to him!
-[ Cody laughs at Zo. ]-
Cody: No she isnt, kid. There are no records of her marrying him.
The Butcher: But she did. You remember, dont you, Nikki?
Cody: It doesnt matter, Jimmy. There isnt a record of it happening and since you did it through the Justice of the Peace, there really arent any witnesses to prove your point. Only one and whos to say that stranger even remembers who you are?
The Butcher: Wheres, T-Man? I want to talk to him.
-[ Cody puts his right arm around Nikki just to piss The Butcher off, and it works. ]-
Cody: Tomorrow Man? My tag team partner? One half of the legendary tag team, A Tendency 2 Start Fires?
The Butcher: Yes. Where is he?
Cody: Somewhere in the city. Last time I checked he was in an apartment on West Avenue. Doesnt really matter to me. Weve gone our separate ways. T2SF is no more, Butch. The fire is out. See how quickly things change in 6 months?
-[ Then suddenly a police siren is heard and everyone looks out to the street. Two police cars have driven up, unnoticed, and parked behind Zos car. Two police officers get out of the first car and walk up to the group of four. ]-
Police Officer 1: Did someone here call the police a few minutes ago?
Cody: Yeah. Id like these two arrested for trespassing.
Nikki: No! Dont have them arrested, Cody. They didnt mean any harm.
-[ The second police officer pulls out his handcuffs and waits for Cody to give the word. Nikki starts to rub Codys back with her left arm, hoping he sees it her way. ]-
Nikki: Please.
-[ Cody thinks it over for a second. ]-
Cody: All right. Officers, can you at least escort these two off my property?
-[ The second police officer puts his handcuffs away. ]-
Police Officer 2: We sure can. Come on you two. Lets keep things calm.
-[ The Butcher begins to walk away, backwards, making sure he doesnt take his eyes off Nikki. Zo doesnt leave as cooperatively, because of her anger, but the police officers overpower her and begin to push her back. ]-
The Butcher: Zo, lets go.
Zo: All right.
-[ Listening to his command, Zo begins to leave on her own. The two police officers walk them to Zos car to make sure that they leave. Zo gets behind the wheel but The Butcher remains outside of the car on the passenger side and looks at Nikki over the car. He doesnt say a single word and neither does she. They communicate with their eyes while Cody stares back with a self-righteous grin on his face because he knows that he cant lose. One of the police officers confronts The Butcher. ]-
Police Officer 2: Get in the vehicle, sir.
The Butcher: Right.
-[ The Butcher gets in the car as Zo starts the engine. The police officers walk back into the driveway to block Zo from doing anything stupid. Zo turns to The Butcher. ]-
Zo: Do you really want to leave?
The Butcher: Yeah, lets get out of here.
-[ With that being said, Zo does a quick k-turn and they drive on down the road. Cody walks back in the house and the police officers get back inside their car. Nikki walks down to the sidewalk and watches as Zos car drives around the bend and out of view. ]-
Nikki: Goodbye
-[ She then covers her face with her hands and begins to break down once again, knowing that shes made one of the biggest mistakes of her life. ]-
