One, with so little
Or so it seems to be
Wasted, broken, shattered -
Hopeless dreams come from he
So much potential
And yet so full of hate
He does nothing but scream and challenge
And lie to us, berate
Another, way up high
There, above the clouds
So much has he to offer
Nothing of his to shroud
Fame, glory, happiness
It's all his, can't you see?
Power, love, he's successful -
It's what he'll always be
But the two are intertwined
Though they know each other not
What they have in common is
The fact they have both been bought
Caged up by something different
Yet they are one and the same
Fear breeds the prejudice
And prejudice breeds the shame
Ignorance caught the one
Sudden death has choked the other
Wasted lives are what we've got here
Saddened father, brother, mother
It is so peculiar
The way two lives can be erased
More peculiar still is
The way they're interlaced
Waste not your memory
Nor the way you breathe the air
Keep your eyes wide open
Even though it won't seem fair
Delight in every one of us
And then maybe we can see
That we are all connected
And together, we are free.
