Hobbit: I'm talking with Amir Derakh from Orgy. Amir, hello and thank-you for taking some time away from your schedule to talk with me.
Amir: no problem
Amir: I needed a break anyway
Hobbit: Ok, so how are you doing? Busy I'm taking it?
Amir: good just a little I'm working on O3 still and a few side projects
Hobbit: Oh, how what kind of side projects are you working on currently? Any new bands?
Amir: just a few local bands like 4
Amir: mostly mixing and arranging
Hobbit: Ok, seeing that you brought up the 3rd album, do you mind if I ask you a few questions concerning it? I'm sure the fans would also like to know as well.
Amir: sure
Amir: ask away
Hobbit: Any predictions on when we might see it? And how do you, and the others feel about Bob's absence.
Amir: we're going to try by mid late this year or early 2004 right now there's a lot of legal stuff to work out we miss Bobby a lot you don't just spend 7 plus years with each other and not care but we know he's happy with SRC and we'll support him. we're still close we hang out and stuff
Hobbit: That's great; I know the fans miss him. By any chance, with the recent departure of Mikey Cox 'Bug' from Coal Chamber, working, or collaborating with you guys on this album?
Amir: we're weighing our options right now Paige is working with Mike right now so he might or we just might decide to add in a drum machine.
Hobbit: Any chance about the DVD still being released along with the third album?
Amir: yep we're shooting for that that the DVD is almost finished though its just the album that's holding us back but they will come out don't worry.
Hobbit: That's great.
Amir: its just a matter of time really
Hobbit: Now, on a more personal note, mind if I ask you about how you feel about the United States going to war, and your views on that?
Amir: I'm really passive, going to war won't bring back the lives lost on 9/11 and I'm not convinced that this will really change anything.
Hobbit: I agree totally with you.
Amir: how do u get rid of something that has been around since man you can't.
Hobbit: Exactly.
Amir: but its funny seeing people go back to the cold war and the 50's paranoia
Hobbit: If there is one thing in the world right now you could change, what would it be, and why?
Amir: mhh I dont know, I guess make people see past petty differences then everything like war and what not will fix itself.
Hobbit: Agreed.
Hobbit: Ok, do you have any favorite hangout spots?
Amir: Ryan drags me to 'The Lab' on the weekends but I like to stay home.
Amir: but if I'm out its usually CD shops and the mall.
Hobbit: Speaking of Ryan, does he still do your hair, and why the hair color change? We like it, just it doesn't seem to be the Amir we're used to seeing on stage?
Amir: yep he does, but I'm just letting it recover from being bleached.
Amir: I'm going to try something new in a few weeks.
Hobbit: I see. Like?
Amir: maybe dying it all black or letting my roots take the place of the blonde I have a lot of idea. |
