The silver of my youth
Open-mouthed and dripping
Glistening on pearly teeth
Falling out over swelling lips
Down onto the soft flesh of my breasts
The silver of my youth
Draws shiny lines down my stomach
Turning to gather together
Where all the curves meet
But no more -
No more.
My youth is but a sliver
The current stopped still
Before my boat hit the water
The sliver of my youth
Open-mouthed and dripping -
Twenty-two, yet nothing new
I try to choke back my youth
As my broken boat sets sail. |
