Welcome to my heart.
East of the Escarpment

An air of confidence
I am said to have
When I walk-
Perhaps it's true
Yet when I even think
I see you coming
I feel no confidence
Not even an air of it
Exposed
I feel
Like the windward side
Of an escarpment
Battling the surging west wind
Choking on its wrath
And spitting stones into the sea

Not like the east
East of the escarpment
Lies the balmy breath
Tumbling down the rock-side
And gently falling into the valley
Of ardent affection
And opulent sweetness
Here, perhaps
Lies the air of confidence
That patiently awaits
A fearless visitor
To tame that westerly wind
Ride over this rocky cliff
And into the heart of all that's tender.
