Planet X is a Traditional Hard Rock Band - with influences that range from the 60's and 70's, to the 90's, from classic rock artists such as Boston, UFO and Deep Purple - all the way modern acts such as Pantera, Soundgarden and Creed. But don't be fooled, Planet X is far more than just the sum if it's influences, they harness the past and the present in order to chart a bold new future. Screw shallow trends - Pure Hard Rock will live on and Planet X is true to the core spirit of Hard Rock and Roll, which is - Hot Riffs, Hot Grooves, Hot LEADS and Hot *Vocals*. If you want PURE UN-CUT HARD ROCK, then Planet X is the place to find it.
How a Planet was formed: Planets, like all living things evolve, grow and change - Planet X is no exception.
The original version of Planet X began with guitarist Darryl (D.Z.) Zuber in 1993. DZ, an expatriate New Yorker, grew up deep into the heart of California's Central Valley. DZ along with various other incarnations of the group gigged around the Sacramento area and performed at some of the city's most well-established rock clubs including The Boardwalk, Bojangles, Old Ironsides, Soundwave, the Shy Road Pub, Rooster's and the Clubhouse, as well as various Bay Area niteries such as Club Kaos, Lindee's andThe Faultline among others. His soaring Schenker-like lead guitar became his hallmark. Some time in 1997, bassist Ron Meyer of Quincy, California joined forces with Darryl, bringing in a hard-driving but melodic style of playing as well as capable vocal talent that worked brilliantly with Zuber's searing metal guitar work. His contributions brought the group to a new level, one nearly as hard hitting as Pantera After the departure of the band's established lead vocalist in 1998, literally some 180 vocalists were auditioned for the fledgling group. After a grueling eleven-month period, F. Vyan Walton , a recently transplanted L.A. native (Personal Home Page | Bio ) and former member of the L.A. band Soul Machine , answered the call. His soulful but gritty style clicked with the band's sound from the first song, and Planet X began to truly take shape. Newest member Henry "Mitch" Mitchell of Citrus Heights, CA, (Personal Home Page | Bio ), an extremly capable and talented skin basher, who had previously been a member of the band Jack (now better known as Oleander ), joined up in early '99. All Mitch needed was one listen to the first song ("Run ") on the demo tape created by DZ, Vyan and Ron, and that was it, he was ready to hop onboard. And thus, Planet X was fully formed.
