TRAVIS - SING
Woodsey
Ahh, you can always rely on Travis.  You can always rely on them to make SAFE, DULL, PREDICTABLE AVERAGENESS. ***

Paul
Sing is unimaginative, predictable, uninspired and generally quite boring. Oh, that'd be Travis' new single, then. **

RADIOHEAD - PYRAMID SONG
Woodsey
Their plans to intoduce some different, unusual music to the charts may be admirable, but this track doesn't particularly grab me.  But maybe 'Amnesiac' will be good. ***

Paul
Tis no secret I'm a big Radiohead fan - though their recent efforts were fairly poor, this is a good return to form. Although the single took a while to grow on me, it proves one thing: Radiohead still can be beautiful. ****

PIED PIPER & MASTER OF CEREMONIES - DO YOU REALLY LIKE IT?
Woodsey
It's the one that goes
'Do you really like it, is it, is it wicked?'  To which, the answer must be: No, not really. **

DIDO - THANK YOU
Woodsey
Oh, it's that 'Stan' one.  Well, it starts off promising enough, but then goes headfirst into Radio 2 country. ***

Paul
It was from 'Stan'. Is it good? Kinda. Will it get to number one? Yep. ***

AIR - RADIO #1
Woodsey
It's French, it's bizarre and it's quite fun, even if it's nothing to write home about. ***

EDDY GRANT - ELECTRIC AVENUE (Ring Bang Remix)
Woodsey
Hey, it's that eighties chappie.  I don't particularly enjoy this, but I will concede that it'll make a good summer hit. ***

I MONSTER - DAYDREAM IN BLUE
Woodsey

'Daydream, I fell asleep among the flowers' .  It's nonsense, of course.  But charming nonsense. ***

Paul
Beautiful meaningless tunesmithery - lovely, lovely and more lovely. ****

MUSE - NEW BORN
Woodsey
It's Muse again.  And in many ways that sums up what I think of this record, although I do like the 'WHAT THE ("CLUCK" - Ed)?' guitar bit.
(Sighs) Go on, Paul, tell me I'm wrong... ***

Paul
(Sighs) You're wrong, Woodsey. Muse have evolved beyond expectations from the Radiohead cover band criticisms to what is pretty much a Brit alternative metal band. This single rocks. Hard. Buy it. ****

MANIC STREET PREACHERS - OCEAN SPRAY

Woodsey
And to finish off this week of general averageness (for me, anyway), here come the Manics, sounding like their recent trip to Cuba has rubbed off on them, what with all the horns.  Unremarkable. ***

Paul
Manics are now exceptionally average. Jump ship and don't bother with them anymore - they now lack the beautiful anger and zeal that made them so appealing years back. ***
