Welcome
back!!!! Everyone has certainly been raring to go since returning from the
holidays. Great to see so many people
eager to get back into their classes. A
special welcome to all our new students!!!!
TALENT
QUEST SUCCESS
Well I’m
sure most of you have heard the fabulous Menai Marketplace talent quest results
by now. The ‘Starlets’ (a group
combining some Menai and Sutherland Students) took out 1st place and
$500 in the Jnrs. Closely followed by
the amazingly talented Jade Henderson.
A special mention to Monique Stivala for making the final as a soloist –
You really rocked girl!!!! Our very own
Mr Leighton and his gorgeous partner Naomi wiped the floor in the Snr section
picking up 1st place and $1000.
Vanessa Powell who some of you will remember as a soloist in the G.A.S.
showcase took out 3rd. Never
before has a studio taken out so many of the places in the final. In fact no other Menai school made the
final!!! I was especially proud to see
all of our students cheering our performers on. Its great to see our littlies developing such an interest in
performance. After all we know that the
best dancers are the ones who do it from the heart.
The winners of the modeling awards at the G.A.S.
showcase certainly strutted their stuff on the catwalk last weekend. You were all so professional and I heard
fabulous feedback about you all. So a
big congratulations to Samantha, Monique, Tiana, Dion, Lachlan and Imogen. A special thank you from Miss Susie to the
parents of all our models for being so co-operative. Our dressers were great and our other parents showed a great deal
of professionalism by letting the kids do everything themselves. Thank you parents – you were ‘absolutely
fabulous’.
Kurranulla
eisteddfod is fast approaching. The
schedule is still being finalised – so keep a close check on the whiteboard for
further details. It is very
important that all of the 12/u stage class attend their special pizza party
rehearsal from 2pm-5pm this Saturday.
I would like to invite the Pre Jnr Jazz class (The Stargirls) and the Jnr Jazz Class (E.T) to perform at the East Hills Spring Festival Eisteddfod on the 29th of September along with our stage class. Next year we hope to have stage classes in each age group for those students who would like to perform in competitions and shopping centres etc. However, this year I would like these two classes to gain some experience with their routines before the concert. This will improve the quality of our performance at Bankstown R.S. L at the end of the year. The eisteddfod is held at East Hills Boys High School at Panania. Extra performances will also allow you to get more use out of your costume!!! Please see me if you can not attend this competition, otherwise I will assume that you can do it.
THANK YOU
I would
like to say thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Dearing for all their hard work in the
holidays organising our new ‘out of this world’ barres. Also a big thank you to Susie for her
efforts co-ordinating the fashion parades.
Lastly, to my parents Lyn and Willie for keeping the fort going while I
was on my holiday.
BALLET CLASSES
Extra
ballet classes started last Thursday night with Miss Marcia. We are very lucky to have Miss Marcia join
the planetdance teaching team. She
received the highest marks in her final R.A.D. ballet exams and is a lovely
ballet teacher. She is also an
excellent choreographer and has toured Australia as the choreographer and lead
dancer in Grease. This versatility is
something all planetdance students should strive for. The Grade 1 ballet class is on immediately after Jnr Jazz on
Thursday at 6:30. I would love to see
some more students from Jnr Jazz picking up this class to improve their dance
technique. The Grade 3 ballet class
follows Intermediate Jazz at 7:15.
