| TIMMINS City councillors had the opportunity to see plans for the Shania Twain Interpevtive Centre and the expansion of the TIMMINS GOLD MINE TOUR at there regular meeting. Work on the $11 million project has already started and is expected to be completed by July 2001. The Centre is set to include a 4,000 sq. ft. exhibit space featuring Shania and will be an interactive attraction allowing visitors to see how a record is created. The displays will feature $1 million in memorabilia including awards & gowns which Shania has donated to the centre. |

James Keizer from Iroquois Falls suggested the front car be painted HOT PINK and call it THE SHANIA TWAIN in order to attract more riders. Making the seating more comfortable with food and beverages brought to the riders seats while they enjoy listening to Shania's music and watching her videos and life story as they ride. A group of students from a local high school found out that knowing what consumers want is one of the first steps in researching a business plan during a presentation by Timmins Tourism Manager, Will Saari. Twenty-four students at Timmins High & Vocational School, who are preparing business plans for their marketing class, learned the basics during Saaris presentation on Friday. Saari is also the Site Manager of the Timmins Underground Gold Mine Tour and the Shania Twain Centre. During his presentation, Saari talked to the students about the Shania Twain Centre and Twain's popularity. She (Twain) is a huge industry, he said. Probably the first and most important aspect, Saari said, is research for the business plan. Make sure it's something people want. |
