CountryCool.com Will Cease Operation Of Its WebSite
FAIRFAX, VA., Jan. 8, 2001-Countrycool.com, Inc., a leading Country Music hub on the World Wide Web, will close its web site on January 31, 2001. The company will continue its efforts to transact a merger or the sale of its assets over the next several weeks, company officials announced today.

Countrycool.com was launched in 1996 as the first country music portal on the web offering audio-streamed interviews with country music as well as music clips. The company became independent in April 1999 and quickly developed into a leading internet brand for country music. A few weeks after launch, countrycool.com was named the "Official Webcaster" for the Country Music Association's (CMA'S) Fan Fair and the Country Music Awards Show in September 1999. Most recently, Countrycool.com was the only country music site selected by Yahoo! When it named the top 100 Websites for the year 2000. Countrycool.com is consistently in the top positions for searches on "country music" on major search engines such as
AltaVista.com, Lycos.com, Excite.com, HotBot.com, Ask.com, DirectHit.com, and others. The site currently hosts more than 36,000 pages of high quality content about country music and its artists. For the past year, countrycool.com has attempted to close its second round of financing or to form a strategic partnership to enable the site to continue to deliver high quality content to its loyal community of fans, but the current market is soft on dot-com companies.
