Contact the individuals listed if you are interested in any of the upcoming events. A Word From the Board Each month a board member will contribute an overall view. This month features Michelle Pijanowski—Membership VP Hello fellow Plainfield Members, I think Spring is finally here, at least I hope it is. I just wanted to let you know about some projects that we are planning and projects that we need some chairmen’s for. First I would like to say what a great job Debbie Harnen did on the Pizza Tasting and Juilee Parpart did on the coloring contest. They did a wonderful job on their first projects. May 4th is our 5th Annual Plant Sale. This is our biggest fundraiser for our chapter. Set up is from 7:00 am, sale begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. It is at the Plainfield Fire Station #1 on Des Plaines St. I’m looking for help that day, men and women. We have to set up tables and unload the truck when it comes. There are so many jobs to list. Please give me a call if you can volunteer for that day, 630-739-7071. Even if is a couple of hours it will truly be appreciated. Our next meeting is May 14th at 7:00 p.m. sharp at Baci’s. We have a lot of projects that we have on the agenda that are looking for chairmen’s. Here are a couple of projects that we have listed: Spaghetti Dinner for Camp New Hope, Sandbox Fill, and Safety Day. If are interested in these projects please give me a call. For the membership projects we have Game Night and Chapter Bowling Night. Those projects also need chairmen’s. I would like to thank Gene Kaleta, our Region IDVP, for coming out to our April meeting. It is always nice to have Region Staff at our meetings. Thank you to all the members who have been helping out at projects. I hope everyone has a safe and healthy May. Hopefully, we will have no more cold weather. Michelle Pijanowski Membership V.P. May Meeting The Board Meeting for the Plainfield Jaycees is scheduled for May 12. Strawberry Fest 5K Are you a runner? Walker? Fitness enthusiast? It doesn’t even matter if you aren’t any of the things listed above...the Jaycees need your help to support the Joliet Medical Group, MainStreet Strawberry Fest Third Annual 5K Run/Walk, May 19, 2002. The Plainfield Jaycees and Plainfield Kiwanis Club have received a portion of the profits of this race for each of the last three years. Both organizations have ear-marked the funds to be used to support the children’s charities that they are involved in. In return for the donation the Jaycees and Kiwanis volunteer along the race course. What we are asking from the Jaycees is for you to come out and help give out water at the water stations on the route and cheer on runners at the turns on the course. It is a time commitment of a maximum of 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Volunteers are on the course by 8:30 and can leave as soon as the last runner/walker passes their station. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday morning as a family, just ask the Harnen children who have passed out water during the past two races!! If you are interested in volunteering please contact me as soon as possible. My goal is to be able to supply JMG with at least 15 volunteers on Race Day! Contact me by phone or e-mail. We are going to try and make him as comfortable as we can. Hospice will be called to help us take the best care of him as we can. We will let you know how he is doing as we can.
