WIRELESS HUB

The CAP site now offers wireless internet accessibility through the new wireless hub.  Anyone with their own computer and wireless adapter can come connect to the 'net for free.  Perfect for anyone traveling that needs to use their own info on their computer.

NEW COMPUTERS EXPAND USER BASE

The addition of two "Web-4-All" computers brings internet accessibility and computer use to a new broader range.  Through new technologies, people with disabilities that couldn't use a computer now can.  With a personalized card, people can set up a computer to make the text easier to read, the keyboard easier to use, or even have the contents of the screen read to them.

READING PROGRAM

This year's Summer Reading Program "BLAST OFF" is being offered through the support of the TD Bank Financial Group.  The Library has received a selection of NEW children's books based on this year's space exploration theme.

Kids are encouraged to read for fun this summer and to drop by the library to pick up a reading kit which contains posters, an activity book, stickers, a book mark, and a log book.

Kids sign a contract to read between July 10 to Aug 19. On August 19, there will be a celebration to honor their success.  there are prizes to be won, and Certificates of Achievement.

"Blast Off" Cyber Camps will be held at the library for participants ages 4-13.  Watch for updates.

HELP SUPPORT YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY

Laminated bookmarks are for sale at the library for $1.00 each.  These bookmarks were made at the library by staff and board members through funds provided by the Community Access Program.

Each bookmark displays a local scene (provided by Innovative Photography) - 8 in all.  Also included on the bookmarks are a schedule of library hours, services we offer, and emergency numbers.

All money raised will benefit the Placentia Public Library

CAP YOUTH INTERN

Mike Gear has been hired on as CAP Youth Intern for the summer.  Mike will be offering regular computer training sessions as well as one-on-one instruction.  Call ahead or drop in during normal library hours.

Also, Mike will be conducting Cyber Camps for kids who have registered in the library's BLAST OFF summer reading program.

Drop by, or call the library for Mike's assistance, or e-mail [email protected].
