BLEEDING HEARTS
ACT 2 SCENE 4

The pair cracked the door open. observing the slight figure curled up on the bed. Brian looked up as Stefan stepped into the room with Steve close behind him.
"Hey," he offered tentatively.
"Hey yourself, Bri." There was a smile in Steve's voice. "Feeling better?"
"I guess." Brian shrugged slightly.
Stefan sat down on one of the chairs against the wall near the door, but Steve remained on his feet, pacing slightly. They were all waiting for somebody else to say something. Brian finally broke the uneasy silence.
"Steve?"
"Brian."
"I... um..." 'Christ, Molko, just fucking say it!' "I'm sorry. For freaking out on you. Like that. Yesterday." Why was it so hard to say? He bit his bottom lip, looking up at the burly drummer with eyes like someone hunted. Steve stared at the floor, his breathing slow and shallow as he tried to organize the words rushing around his mind. He took a deep, calming breath as he looked up and began to voice his reply.
"I'm sorry too, Brian. I wasn't thinking yesterday. When I said that. And..." He turned to face Stef. "Stef, I... well... I was thinking, and I don't think..."
"I know, Steve. I don't think so either. I'd apologize, but what would I be apologizing for?" His voice was heavy with sadness.
Steve sighed. It was over between them, and probably for the better whether he liked the fact or not. The two looked at each other, reflecting on what they had had, and what they had lost.
"Thank you, Steve, Stef. That means so much to me." Brian's voice reminded them of his presence in the room. They both turned to face the singer, who was sitting up in the bed, tears dripping down his cheeks. "Thank you..."
Steve stepped to the bed and enfolded Brian in a tender hug. "You're welcome Brian, you're welcome you crazy thing..."
Stef stood and wrapped his arms around the pair, placing a gentle kiss on the top of Brian's head.
They were still like that, holding each other in silent happiness when the doctor came in. He cleared his throat and the three jumped, their arms falling to their sides.
"Feeling better, Mr. Molko?" the doctor inquired with a smile.
"Yes, very much so. Thank you. Thank you." He trailed off, looking up at his bandmates, his friends; the two people who he loved more than anyone else in the entire world, and who loved him in return. His answer may have been to the doctor's question, but it was directed at the other two people in the room.
