| Placebo: Meds | ||||||||||||||
Placebo have returned to the music scene after a lengthy break. They present to us Meds This is Placebos fifth studio album which is an album of singles. This record sounds similar to Placebos self titled debut. Meds is Placebos finest material ever and is one of them albums that you can listen to over and over again. Meds The title track of the album featuring vocals from Alison Mosshart aka VV from the Kills. The song starts with an intro which has the same feel as Nancy Boy. A very good song to start off the new album, this gives the listener a good idea of what the album will be like. An interesting middle 8 with the lines and the sex, and the drugs, and the complications Infra-Red Infra Red is one of the most powerful songs on Meds this one would make a fantastic single. The song really kicks in through the chorus. A song which has the same power as songs like Special K Infra Red is an amazing song which has a very Placebo feel to it. This song will be a classic and will be one that will be loved for years. Drag Drag reminds me of Slackerbitch it has a nice flowing verse then the chorus is more powerful. This is a song that would go down well at live shows. Drag has roots from the debut album, it has that same melodic feel as songs like 36 degrees. This is another one which will become a classic. The middle 8 is a super guitar riff. This song will be a favourite amongst Placebo fans. Space Monkey Space monkey is the surprise of Meds. As the song starts youd expect it to be an electronic song similar to Something Rotten but then when the chorus cuts in and you can hear that special Placebo sound. Space Monkey is a different song, it is one of those songs youd either love or hate and here at Placebo Extreme we love it! Follow The Cops Back Home Follow the cops back home is a slow ballad of Meds this is a song that during the live show would have fans searching for their lighters. This is a beautiful song, its classic Placebo but with a unique twist. You can feel lots of emotion coming from this song. An emotional song but a powerful one in its own right. Post Blue Its in the water baby it certainly is in this song. Post Blue is another song which would be a perfect single. An extremely catchy song, filled with synthy sounds and the meaningful lyrics. This song will sound really powerful live, I think this one is one that will be liked a lot from Meds Because I Want You Placebos first single from Meds this powerful love song is definitely one of the strongest songs on Meds Placebo made a good choice releasing this song. One of my favourites from Meds Because I want you is an amazing song on Meds but is even more amazing live. Blind Blind is a song that as it starts you could mistake it to be a slow ballad. But when the guitars kick in for the chorus you know this isnt no slow song. It reminds me of soul mates Blind has some powerful lines dont go and leave me and please dont drive me blind this song is another potential single from Meds a very likeable song. Pierrot The Clown A slower song from Placebo but as we have seen in past albums Placebos slower songs are not ones to be overlooked. There is something very likeable about pierrot the clown, its a dark song but a very good one and one that is well placed on Meds This song is liked by many of Placebos fans including me. Broken Promise Broken Promise features REM front man Michael Stipe. This song starts with a melodic piano intro which continues through verse one until you reach the chorus and the power of the song kicks in. This song has some excellent guitar parts which if played live would get the audience into a frenzy. One Of A Kind One of a kind is a good song, for me it took a couple of listens to really get into it, a definite grower. It has a very catchy chorus. Another potential single off Meds This song is already a favourite with some fans so looks set to be another Placebo classic. In The Cold Light Of Morning In the cold light of morning is one of the more mellow, slower songs featured on Meds Brian sings it with a slight husk which adds to the emotion of the music and the song itself. A very likeable song it reminds me of Centrefold as it has that same mellow feel to it. Song To Say Goodbye Placebos international first single from Meds another extremely powerful song. This song is a great example of what Placebo can do. There is a very good tune to it. Placebo made an excellent choice releasing this as a single. This is a perfect song to end Meds with. All in all I can say that Meds is definitely Placebos best album so far. Theyve done it again and shown us just how talented they are. Meds is a brilliant record full of fantastic catchy songs. This is Placebo at the height of the career with their best material ever and I think Meds will be a very successful album. |
