Brian on the lyrics : "I like the lyrics to mean different things to different people. The songs remain ambiguous enough so that you can attach your own meanings. The lyrics I've written are mostly about my emotions or my experiences. They reflect the danger and the lack of clarity - how everything is not black and white - it's all shades of grey. "When I'm writing lyrics I start with a melody and sing garbage on top. Gradually, words come from nowhere and I build the lyrics on them. It's like they're coming from the sub-conscious. They belong to the air as much as me. They have a life of their own Brian on the buisness : "There's a hell of a lot of freedom in this rock and roll circus ... it's where all the freaks go ... it's the environment for me" Brian on Brad Wood : "It was obvious from the outset that we both wanted to do the same things - to produce a modern, forward-looking record that was not retro in any way,". We're concerned with our longevity. We want to be successful, but we also want to be around in ten years" Brian on Placebo: "punk pop for postponed suicides."
