Preston's Weight Loss Blog
This is a record of what I have learned while losing weight.
Entry for October 17, 2006

The weekend was a busy weekend and so was Monday. We had several inches of rain and had some local street flooding. I couldn't walk/jog on Monday morning. So, yesterday evening, my wife and I pulled out the old standby, Sweatin' to the Oldies II with Richard Simmons. We did that for about 45 minutes last night. I did get up and do my 6 miles in 58 minutes this morning.

Lesson Learned: You have to be in control of your body and not your body in control of you. You have to constantly learn new habits to replace your old habits. Sometimes your body will say, "C'mon, a few more minutes of sleep." You have to say, "Get your lazy butt up." When Jesus fasted for 40 days while he was in the desert, he had control of his body. He didn't let his body control him. At the end of his desert time when the devil told him that he was the Son of God and that He could turn those stones into bread, Jesus had his body in control. Jesus told the devil that man didn't live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Another thing, eating bread after a 40 day fast would probably have killed Jesus or made him very sick. If you are fasting for any length of time, you need to come off of it slowly like starting off with broths, etc.
