This tiny piece of fantasy landscape was inspired by Judith Baker Montano's work. The pieces were free hand cut of cotton and silk, then appliqued to muslin. This is a technique I contintue to use today. A variety of threads, riibbons, and beads were stitched to the surface creating complex layers of embellishment.

Enchanted Mountains, 2000
Sometimes the internet leads us to the most interesting places. Inspired by the Enchanted Mountains of Georgia, I appliqued the background for this landscape. It was then sent around the US and GB as part of a round-robin project through the Quiltropolis.com Crazyquilt list. Each recipient embroidered whatever she wished before sending it to the next person. Little did I realize how "enchanted" it would become with fairies, fairy rings, a unicorn and a pot of gold.
