(Gal 3:19 KJV) "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator."

I. Because of transgressions

A. Showed sin to be exceedingly sinful (Rom. 7:12-13)

II. Till the seed should come

  1. It was to endure until Christ.
  1. Promise to Abraham

(Gen. 12:4, 22:18)

2. The seed was Jesus Christ (vs 16)

III. To whom the promise was made

1. The promise was made to Christ (Acts 2:24- 33)

IV. The law was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

1. Given by God through Angels to Moses who brought the Law to the Jews.

Given not to their fathers, nor to the gentiles (Deut 5:3)

2. Since this law given on Mount Sinai was to end in Christ, Paul will later point out that those who seek justification under the Law have fallen from grace (Gal. 5:4)
