Technical Description
Mechanical Engineering Drawing And Design/CADD
1. Name and Description
2. Scope of Work at National Student Skills Competition
3. Practical Work
3.1 Practical tasks will be given sketches, drawing detail, individual phisical component and assemblies. Collection of information from these sources will require reading of print, sketches, drawing, engineering tables, and manual. Additional information will be obtaines from direct measurement of actual part supplied and.or from scaled drawings. Problem will be require solutions in the from of graphical and textual description, sufficient to communicate succesfully the information necessary for manufacturing of these component assemblies in industry.
3.2 Competetion Project Categories
3.2.1 Drawing From A Physical Model
Producing drawings from dimensions taken of an actual part. Will be done by measuring aids such as, vernier calipers, protactors, radius gauge etc, and transfer of the measuring result to paper sketches.
3.2.2 Detail Drawing
Preparing one or detail part drawing for manufacturing containing all necessary information for logical manufacturing processes such as:
- Complete shape description of the component
- General dimensions
- Fundamental dimensions and tolerances
- Geometric tolerances of front and position
- Surface finish symbols
3.2.3 Preparing an assembly drawing with all necessary views, sections and general dimension, based on draft or notes that contain all information on design, general, or other information necessary for assembly,
3.2.4 From detail drawing to be changed to isometric drawing forms that is contain all information on general dimensions. All information can be looked at on detail drawing.
3.2.5 Producing 3D drawing taken of an the detail part drawing, one of another part have to cut.
3.3 Output of Work
3.3.1 The drawing after finished put on an form
3.3.2 The drawing printed by laser jet (color)
3.3.3 The drawing printed with scale 1:1, completed with dimensions, tex, line thickness professional, rendering 3D on paper size A4.
3.4 Appropriate Related Skills
3.4.2 Creating freehand sketches ti capture design intent, messurement information and other details such that they can be tranfered to the working drawings.
3.4.3 Preparation of drawing sheets including borders, line thickness, title block and relevant information.
3.4.4 Reading and use of technical manuals, tables, or standard manuals, software and hardware reference manuals as well as catalogue of semi finishing products
3.4.5 Working knowledge of computer operating system sufficient to manipulate and manage computer files and software corretly.
3.4.6 Good command of technical drawing and mechanical design as well as that practical application of drawing principles and pratices.
3.4.7 Can be printed work of drawing, using laser printers or inkjet plotters, after instruction during the familiarization period.
4. Materials
4.1 The host provincy shall for practical reasons be responsible for provision of the major product and support personnel for such items as computers, monitors, digitizers, plotters/printers san furniture.
4.2 Additional materials to be supplied include:
4.2.1 Sketching paper
4.2.2 Sketching pencils and erasers
4.2.3 Top quality paper for printing.
Note: All materials and equipment brought by competitors must be presented to technical expert on request.
5. Test Marking
Marking aspect of part score between 1 points to 10 points
6. Time of Test
6.1 Measure the model, sketched and details drawing = 4 hours, weight measurement = 20
6.2 Front assembly drawing = 3 hours, weight measurement = 20
6.3 Isometric drawing = 4 hours, weight measurement = 30
6.4 3 Dimension drawing model = 5 hours, weight measurement = 30
