   here is my support letter for my trip to oaxaca, mexico this summer.  this is the letter i'm sending out to people who i hope will support me through prayer and/or a financial contribution.  if you have any questions about missions, about oaxaca...anything...please let me know!

Dear friends,

I am writing this letter to let you know about an opportunity God has given me to go on a short-term missions trip this summer.  I will be part of a team from my church, the Korean Central Presbyterian Church, going to Oaxaca, Mexico through a missions organization called Del Cordero International (www.delcordero.org).  We will be in Oaxaca from July 5 – 30, living and working amongst the native people, all the while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Now before I go on and tell you some more about the trip, I wanted to share with you some of the things that God has been doing in my life (yeah, you’ll have to bear with me!) – things that actually lead up to me going to Oaxaca this summer. 

Recently, God has opened the door for me to attend medical school this fall.  Needless to say, I’m pretty excited and thankful that I’ll have the opportunity to pursue medicine as a career, which I have been looking forward to since my days in college.  But getting into medical school has also allowed me to have the summer free to go on missions.  After much prayer, God led me to the Oaxaca team.  The Lord has been so faithful to me and to the team thus far, and I am so eager to see Him show more of his love and life-changing power in Oaxaca this July.

I will be going to a rural region in Oaxaca, a state in southern Mexico.  Our team will be spending time in a local village, learning the local culture, while engaging in variety of ministries to children and adults.  I pray that as I develop friendships with our hosts, I will be able to effectively share the message of love and grace that Jesus Christ has given to me. 

I invite you to join me in this opportunity to see God reveal His glory and extend His kingdom in Oaxaca this summer!  I would love to have your support in prayer before, during, and even after my time in Mexico.  I would also appreciate any financial support that you may be able to contribute, to help meet the costs of my trip to Oaxaca.  If you would like to support me either way, please return the enclosed support card by June 7, 2001.  If there are prayer requests you’d like to share with me, please write those on the response card as well, so that I can lift those up for you in prayer while I’m in Oaxaca!

Here are some of my personal prayer requests:

1. Please pray for my spiritual strength.  Since I will have many leadership and ministry responsibilities while I am in Oaxaca, pray that I will have a joyful, patient, and obedient heart in all that I do.
2. Please pray that God would open my heart to have a deep compassion for the lost.  Pray that the Spirit would move in me so that I will be a bold witness, for His name’s sake.
3. More than anything else, please pray that would glorify Himself in Oaxaca this summer – that He would show powerfully what an awesome God He is!
