january 4, 2000

happy (belated) new year, everyone!  hope everyone had a good new year's.  after spending a few days up here in the bay area, i drove home (again) for new year's, where i pretty much chilled at home with the folks most of the time.  i went out once to eat breakfast with a bunch of high school friends.  and then on new year's eve, i went to a get-together with the young adult and college people  from church.  it was pretty fun - during the gift exchange, my boy joe picked a gift that turned out to be a ricky martin jigsaw puzzle.  ha ha.  i guess the ricky martin gift wrapping shoulda tipped him off, huh?  we left there - about 30 of us - in time to attend a midnight service at church.  personally, it was a good way to begin the new year -  giving thanks for all that the lord blessed me with in the past year, and asking for his continual guidance and love in the year to come.

sorry about the long layoff between updates - i didn't really give to much thought to the website while i was at home.  plus, i've been sick, and not really in the right frame of mind to be working on this thing.  interestingly, i had TWO people tell me i needed to update my website!  which is actually somewhat shocking -  i didn't know i had such devoted fans.  ha ha.

and to close my first journal entry of the year, i wanted to share some of my new year's resolutions.  if you are a friend of mine, then please help me abide by these resolutions!  here we go:

(1) eat more vegetables -  i think my diet consists mostly of meat and coke.  just kidding.  actually i also eat french fries and doughnuts.  ha ha.  okay, seriously, i need to eat healthier.  and i'm not gonna blame my bachelor lifestyle any longer.

(2) pick a football team to cheer for - in 1995, i went through a bitter divorce with the oakland raiders.  i had been in an abusive relationship for too long (the marcus allen fiasco, bo jackson's career ending injury, bad quarterbacks, missing the playoffs, etc.) and the last straw was them leaving los angeles.  i couldn't take being a raiders fan any more, so i left.  for over five years i had no team to cheer for.  at first it was kinda refreshing, but to tell you the truth, it got lonely.  so although i know that i've been hurt in the past, i started talking to the raiders again about getting back together.  i'll let you know how this turns out.

(3) see more movies - the reason i say this is because my friend sterling and i play this game called, "the movie game."  basically, one person names an actor or actress, and the next person has to name a movie that person has been in.  then, the next person names another actor or actress in the movie mentioned in the prior turn.  and so on and so forth, until one person cannot name an actor or actress, or a movie.  i used to be be on par with sterling, but since graduation, i haven't seen as many movies as he has.  and the last time we played, he totally killed me.  absolutely destroyed me.  i get pretty competitive over things like this, so i wanna make 2001 a comeback year for phil kim and the movie game!

ha ha...maybe i'll share some more resolutions with you in the near future.

in the next couple of days, i'll be doing a "phil kim 2000 - year in review."  pretty cheesy, huh?  well, hope you're looking forward to it nevertheless.  i'll holla at y'all later...
