Whirlpool Corporation - the world's leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances – has been using SAP R/3 Release 3.1I for running business. It now wants to upgrade its SAP system to version 4.7 i.e. Enterprise.

Rapidigm is giving LOH (Lab-On-Hire) support for this upgrade. The first task in this engagement is to analyse a list of 55 BDCs for compatibility with Enterprise version and fix them, if necessary.

 

As a Project Manager, Padmakar’s responsibilities include Project Management Activities such as Environment Setup, Project Kick-Off & Initiation, Project Planning, Co-ordination & Management in addition to SDLC activities.

Padmakar was involved in modifying a Customised Transaction ZFINISH used by Dofasco that processes a production order. He also modified a Production Order SAPScript for Carton Service Inc.

This was an offshore project for Bose Corp. dedicated to handling change and development requests to maintain existing system. Various related modules are SD, MM, FI/CO, QM, SM and PS.

 

During the course of the project, Padmakar was involved in various technical areas of development like Dialog Transactions, Interactive Reports, ALV, LSMW, BDC (Transactions MB0A, MB1A, MB1C, XD02, VL02N), SAP Query, SAPScripts (Invoice Document for Mexico) & Smart Forms.

 

As Analyst/Programmer, his responsibilities include carrying out SDLC Activities such as Estimation, Analysis and Design of tasks received, writing Test Cases, developing/maintaining ABAPs, Unit Testing and Quality Control (QC) of developed code.

Project Aries involved transition from various smaller system distributed around and having interfaces with SAP to core modules of SAP. One part of this project was migrating existing Projects data from Manman into PS Module of SAP. The data had interface with SAP Business Warehouse as well.

 

Padmakar handled data extraction from PS Module of SAP to Business warehouse.

This was an Onsite-Offshore, Fixed Price, Development project for Customer Response Center of GE Lighting, Europe. It involved integrating SAP R/2 system - where SD activities take place - with CRM Package Siebel hat would handlee customer disputes. The interface was Perl Scripts using metadata and UNIX Scripts using CPI-C communication.

 

Padmakar was the Module Leader for SAP side Development.  The functional areas involved were RV (Sales & Distribution) and RF (Finance). The technical side comprised mainly of extracts from SAP to upload data into Siebel and posting Credit/Debit Memos from Siebel into SAP System.

 

Requirement Analysis and Design was carried out Onsite during first three months and the Implementation and Testing was done offshore for the later duration.

Padmakar's work involved mainly:

·        Understanding Customer Requirements, Analysis, Functional and Technical Design, Designing the interface

·        Facilitating Implementation, Unit & Integration Testing.

This was an Onsite project for GE Lighting involved in providing software solutions and fulfilling requests to maintain the existing SAP system. Padmakar’s responsibilities included development, enhancement and maintenance in functional areas such as EDI, RV and RF.

 

Padmakar's work involved mainly:

·        Transactions, Reports, SBDC on SAP Sales & Distribution – RV and Finance - RF modules.

·        EDI sales order and remittance processing & posting into the RV & RF modules and Extraction of Order Acknowledgements, Delivery Notes, Pre-Invoices, Shipment Notes, Goods Issues, Invoices and Price Lists from the SAP system via CPI-C communication to a UNIX server having VAN mailboxes installed.

·        Sales order posting from the GE Lighting extranet site and tracking various details of order, checking availability of products and prices.

Development And Enhancement of Transportation Lead Time, In-Transit time Extract for SPAN project.

 

Utility ABAP:

Development of ABAP to extract the Header Texts like Short Texts in all languages, Sales Text, Purchasing Text, Internal Memo Text etc. associated with a list of materials.

 

EDI:

·         Development of EDI Message Extraction for Outgoing Dispatch Advice as per the New METEL Standard (EDIFACT 96A)

·         Development of EDI-like Message Extraction of Invoices Posted during the day for Mainframe to Mainframe Transfer from GE-Lighting UK to Blue Mainframe Machine in USA.

As an initiative by PCS to build expertise in the latest technologies, Padmakar was  one of the team members of ALE/IDOC initiative with a team of 3 people.

 

As a part of this initiative, he successfully implemented the transfer of IDOCs between two separate SAP systems through ALE concept in the following areas:

·Change control mechanism

·Message control mechanism

 

He was involved in studying and understanding this concept in the areas of configuration, implementation and customization of ALE. He then had to impart my expertise and allocate the various tasks appropriately to his team members.

CMS is a tool for measuring and analyzing sales performance. It provides evaluation of current performance as compared with past sales objectives and targets. Apart from measurement, the tool also helps in defining clauses for differing level of performance.

 

The information for the system was extracted from SAP R/2 system and was loaded onto Sales Data Warehouse (DW) for Sales and Marketing Analysis and reporting Tool (SMART) .  This was done through batch process written in Perl/PL-SQL Procedures. In addition, GE-Lighting also maintained a SMART European DW for other reporting. The integrated DW module aimed at merging the two DWs to reduce the maintenance cost.

 

Padmakar’s role as a Team Member included:

·         Estimating and making changes, enhancements & integration in the data extraction ABAPs involved in the Customer Dimension as a part of Dimension Integration module.

·         Identification of the data fields of Customer Dimensions of SMART Sales DW to be merged into the Integrated DW.

·         Analysis of Oracle Scripts of SMART Sales Data Warehouse to merge their business logic into Integrated DW ABAP extracts.

·         Quality Control of all the ABAPs for Product and Customer data extraction.

·         Unit and Integration Testing of the ABAPs changed.
