Tire Tutorial

Step 1-First thing you want to do is create a circle in side five by pressing space>>add>>mesh>>circle then scale it using the s-key to the size you want for your tire.

Step 2-Now, leave edit mode and switch to front view and create another circle the same size as the first.

Step 3-Delete all but the top 7 vertices (depending on the tire shape you may have to adjust how many vertices the top has) by selecting them and pressing x-key. Adjust the verticies to form the tire cross section, but dont move the top center vertice.

Step 4- Adjust the verticies to form the tire cross section, but dont move the top center vertice. Extrude the vertices by selecting them and pressing e-key.

Step 5- Using the face loop (ctrl-r) and extrusions create a small section of the tread you want the tire to have.

Step 6- Leave edit mode and switch to side view. With the tread still selected press center new. Now, rotate the tread section slightly to follow the path of the origonal circle.

Step 7- Select the origonal circle and press shift-s>>curser selection. Your curser shoulr now be centered in the first circle. Select the tread and press tab go to the edit buttons window (f9) and change the degree underneath the screw button to 65-70 (this may vary on your tire depending on size so you might have to play with it), make sure all verticies are selected and press spin dup until the tire is fully formed.

There you have it 7 easy steps to creating a realistic tire. Now add some textures and and some rims and its done.
