Our Hawaiian Vacation
In November 2003 we took a tropical vacation to beautiful Kauai, Hawaii!
We explored the island from one side to the other.  We took part in three wonderful tours by
Aloha Kauai Tours, the SeaFun Snorkeling, the Rainforest Hike, and the Adventure Trek.
We didn't see any sharks while we were snorkeling, thank goodness, but we did find a dead hammerhead on the beach!
After a full day of playing at Kekaha beach, on the south side of the island,
we enjoyed a spectacular sunset.  This was our favorite beach.
The Rainforest Hike started at the remains of the Jurassic Park gate.  Sarah was a little disappointed when we said it was time to go and she didn't see any "Sharp Toothes"!
Papa Ben joined us on our Hawaiian vacation, and his old buddy Rick took us on a beautiful drive to see the Waimea Canyon.  We were 4000 feet up and it was cold and foggy, but the view of the canyon was breathtaking!
During the luau Rebecca got up on stage to learn the Hookie-Lau dance!
We ended our vacation with a traditional Hawaiian luau the night before we left at Smith's Tropical Paradise.
HOMEPAGE
While playing at Piopu beach, we had the chance to see the endangered Monk Seal.
We visited the waterfalls from the old Fantasy Island show, but the kids didn't get it when we told them to point and say "the plane, the plane"!
We did a lot while we were in Kauai!  One of our adventures was a 9 mile bike ride.  The terrain was rough so Eddie hitched a ride with his dad.  He wants a bike like that for at home now!  After the bike ride we took a short hike around some sea cliffs and got to play in the ocean after lunch.
Rebecca loved all of the adventures we had in Kauai.  She lead the way on the 9 mile bike ride and admired the awesome views from the sea cliff walk at lunch break.
Sarah loved splashing in mud puddles during the 3 mile rainforest hike, and she was able to make the entire journey on her own two feet!
