Tunnel under the A12 higway - Bunnik

This is the most drain-like object that I've found until now. It is located between the "Knooppunt Lunetten" and the Texaco (?) petrol-station "De Slagmaat". When you see some old German bunkers on the right side of the highway you are driving over this tunnel (assuming you are driving Eastwards).

I found it while exploring these bunkers in September 1998.

I don't know the use of this tunnel. It is low so you have bend and watch your head. The bottom is covered with a sticky, sandy, clay-mud. So definitely it is not a pedestrian or bicycle tunnel. It is very new and about 70 steps long (50-60m). In the middle of the tunnel is a small room that connects to the surface and the opening is covered with wooden boards.

In April 1999 Ben van der Ploeg visited this tunnel and it's still accessible. He also couldn't find any useful purpose for it. The most plausible theory is that it's a tunnel for wildlife.
