I don't know the use of this tunnel. They didn't need to cover it up and could have left it as an open channel. It is about 70 steps long (50-60m). You can just see the light at the other end in the lower-right part of the picture, next to the reeds.

The inside is painted a glistening black. There is not enough room to row, so I used my paddles to push against the walls. This sent the boat spinning erratically.

It was an experiment to see if you could float through in a rubber boat. Then I could use the boat to explore the harbor-quays. It worked perfectly. It has a very quiet atmosphere. When you row through it, all you hear is the echoing sound of drops falling from you paddles.
Unfortunately I tried to stow the fully inflated boat in my car and I punctured it when it got caught between one of the car doors. It was only a small hole, so I noticed it only when I was trying to float under the rail-bridge near Gouda.
I got a wet bottom and my camera almost drowned. So I have no pictures of a train passing over my head.
