Appartment building - Schermerhoek

This is the best building for enjoying the view of Rotterdam and it's surroundings. The building has 14 floors, it is very long and it has an "Z" shape (it's nickname is "The Chinese Wall"). This gives many views in different directions. Also it has windows near the lifts through which you can look in the direction where the balconies are. In theory you could make a 360-degree panorama from this building.

Extra attractions are the big science-fiction-like antenna's on the roof and the fire-stairs where you can sit unnoticed for a long time and enjoy the view.

This is the West-view. You can see the whole skyline of Rotterdam. Some landmarks from left-to-right: PTT-tower Waalhaven (12 km), Euromast (10 km), Nationale Nederlanden (10 km).

This is the Northwest direction. You can see most of Alexanderpolder and Ommoord. The most conspicuous landmark (on the horizon) is the artificial ski-hill in Bergsenhoek (5 km). We have no hills and almost no snow in Holland. It has been built on top of a garbage-dump and it uses plastic carpets instead of snow.
It is not well visible in this picture but you can also see Zoetermeer (16km).

This is the Southwest direction. The most conspicuous landmarks are the city-hall of Capelle aan den IJssel (1,5 km), the wharf of "Van der Giessen - De Noord" (4,5 km) and the "Van Brienenoord" bridge (5,5 km). It is not visible in this picture but you can see the bridge over "De Noord" and (maybe) the famous windmills of Kinderdijk (16 km).
