This was taken on my 8th birthday. It was cold out, but we wanted a picture of me in my new bathrobe. In those days, you had to have photo flood lights to take indoor pictures and only professionals had those. |

Because I was scared of dogs, especially the dog packs that roamed the neighborhood, my parents let me adopt a stray cat. The mother cat had her babies in our unused furnace, so we called the kitten that I kept, Cinders. |

We didn't own a car at this time, so my older brother let us borrow his car when we needed it. It was a Dodge Coupe. |

Easter Sunday and my sisters and I were dressed for church and the Easter Bunny. This was when you had to wear hats and gloves to be dressed up. |

This is the car we bought after being without a car for a while. It was old, but we liked it. I joined the Girls Scouts so that I could go to camp with them. |
