1943 - 1952
This was taken on my 8th birthday. It was cold out, but we wanted a picture of me in my new bathrobe. In those days, you had to have photo flood lights to take indoor pictures and only professionals had those.
Because I was scared of dogs, especially the dog packs that roamed the neighborhood, my parents let me adopt a stray cat. The mother cat had her babies in our unused furnace, so we called the kitten that I kept, Cinders.
We didn't own a car at this time, so my older brother let us borrow his car when we needed it. It was a Dodge Coupe.
My sister and I were sitting on a big rock in a park that was called Riverview Park. I was thrilled to have a little sister and I took her everywhere I could.
Easter Sunday and my sisters and I were dressed for church and the Easter Bunny. This was when you had to wear hats and gloves to be dressed up.
This is the car we bought after being without a car for a while. It was old, but we liked it. I joined the Girls Scouts so that I could go to camp with them.
